Like having the cam hanging around the neck like a necklace or looking just over the shoulder like a boss? Or perched on the shoulder like a parrott. That would give the viewer the proper perspective, wouldn't it? That might be hard to do.

Sure. I can show anyone how not to get a head knife sharp, or how to make scrap leather, or how to cut fingers on dull blades.... Is there anything else I can help with?

I just bought one from Tandy, which I hated from day one. I found I still needed drive punches to make holes more than an inch from the edge of my project anyway, and pitched the rotary. Most people will still need the drive punches, so why bother with a rotary? Also, I have tendon problems and have lost much strength in my hands from tendon surgery, and repetitive use of the rotary caused me problems. And you with your sharpening ! I wish you lived next door so you could show me the right way to sharpen! I'm so envious of your ability to do that! I'll have my head knife ground to a stub by the time I get the hang of that ! I'm getting a little better, but still not where I want to be... Thanks for reminding me though - I'm going camping this weekend, and I think I'll take my knife and skiving knife along and work on them.

Don't forget a thread groover and overstitch wheels if you're hand stitching, and a C.S. Osborn diamond awl. Makes your stitching much neater looking. A honing system if you will need to sharpen any blades...

Welcome! I don't know anything about making collars, so I'll just stick to things in my short experience working with leather. Don't buy a rotary punch, they're a waste of money. You can get drive punches in the sizes you'll be needing, and not have to pay for the punch sizes you won't use. I bought one of those rotary punches, and it found a home in my trash can soon afterward. If you are only going to make one collar or one bridle, etc., you can get by with a utility knife. If you do any more than that, you'll be happy with a head knife - though I hope you have better luck sharpening than me ! Good luck, have fun, and please post photos of your projects! Hilly

Gorgeous! I especially like the photo on the right. Thanks for posting these. Please keep them coming! -
Superchute made me a wine carrier! It's already seen some "action", as I love a good glass or 3 of white Zinfandel! Sorry to not post pics sooner. I thought my camera would be back from Canon repair shop a little sooner! Thanks Russell! Hilly

I'm a Wisconsinite. Go Badgers! Very nice hat, by the way!

Airbrush acrylics <101
Hilly replied to Regis's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I never liked airbrushing createx acrylics. Even when you thin to consistancy of milk, you have to constantly clean the needle and tip because the stuff dries so fast. Never tried any other different brands. -
Congrats, Wolvie! Have a virtual drink on me!

Wow, must be one of the best kept secrets of all time. I never knew that. THANK YOU!

Does anyone make a decorative snap to use in place of an ugly old plain snap? I'm making a notebook with a snap closure and would like something more attractive than a plain old silver snap.

Yay Clay! Way to go! Is it getting easier for you?

Thank you so much for posting these pics. Sorry to say though, that I really can't see much because of the black on black. Maybe you could try some other colors? Do you have some scrap fabric or something that might show up better? -
I've never met you, and find it a bit strange, but you are in my thoughts quite often because of what you are trying to do. I keep hoping for your success. Keep at it! Just wait till you're 100% quit. You'll be amazed at how bad it really smells. When people used to tell me I stunk like an ashtray, I just sorta shrugged it off. I thought they just needed something to complain about. Now I understand what they meant. Darn us born again ex smokers There used to be a guy where I worked that smoked heavily, and also smoked cigars in his closed car. I could smell him when he drove into the parking lot without his windows being open. I knew as soon as he walked into the building before I even saw him. Walking into his cigar smoke stench was like walking into a solid object. I had to leave as soon as he walked in. I could not stand to be in the same room with him. OTOH, even to this day, when someone lights a cig, the very first second or two after it's lit, it smells really good. Sorta makes me want a drag.... But ONLY for the first second or two, and then it just stinks again. You'll get there, Johanna. Sometimes it just takes practice. I'm still cheering for you! Hilly

So, how is it going for you, Johanna?

OMG! That mask is really spooky! What an excellent Halloween costume!

You do very nice work! Thanks for posting. Someone else on this forum said that it took some time before the vinegar smell went away completely.

Oooooh. I wouldn't want to make you angry.

Those are really nice! I can't run a straight basketweave stamp to save my life, even with all the tutorials you see on this site. I also like that you have spaces for credit cards, as not everyone uses a seperate register with their checks. How did you do the side with the card slots, if I may ask? -
Besides my leather addiction, I do a little photography - macro shots are my favorite.
