Belt Makers ~ What Kind Of Daily Volume?
awharness replied to ShortBBL's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I think SHortbbl and David are refering to just plan belts, with just a crease or a two layer belt, Not a tooled belt. I will agree, with David, I shoot for about three an hour depending on how side tracked I get... -Andrew -

When Holly whips(carriage style) are made the wood is aged to dry for years. the bark is stripped off, I beleive some steam to straighten slightly, yew wood is also used, sell able to straighten, even knubbier. Willow is sometimes used as well as Bamboo. Not sure if I know of anyone who makes holly whips in the US though. I do have a contact in the UK that makes them. its a complete art in itself. -Andrew

Hey I was wondering what leather everyone uses for English sturrip leathers, I've seen the Segwick stirrup leather that Siegels has, and I will probably go with it, but I need to just make some for kids. Any input on what everyones been using for this leather? streaching techniques? THANKS! -Andrew www.awharness.com

Steve Siegal just sent an email around a couple days ago for Dye Lok he called it, an old product that they used to have and are getting made again. I am not sure of the qualities or applications, but it seems like it may be worth looking into. I've never delt with anything waxier then sedgwicks so he might have a little insight on that topic in general. -Andrew

Seems like everyone is crazy about sewing machines on here. I was just wondering what everyones favorite feet are! Reguardless of machine, what does everyone use? any unusual feet? It seems like there are a lot of feet and a lot of modifications that people use, feet to cut groves for rounds, welting feet or even just narrow harness feet. Please chime in sewing machine vendors, what do you offer for feet and what makes them special! I know I would be intrested in what makers have to offer! Look forward to hearing eveyrones opinion! Thanks! -Andrew
