The rubber "tire" is different on the juki 441 than some of the knock offs, if not all. Beilers sells genuine as well as knock off, and accessories for the 441, as well as just about everything you need! They're my go to source! (717) 768-0174

This is a great harness stitcher that sews flawlessly! I have it mounted on a table that has a solid heavy plastic that is 1' thick and very rugged! It has a brand new sewpro gr500 gear reduced motor that is hooked up, set up and sews well! I have used this very machine to do repair work for the Budweiser Clydesdale's That's how good of a stitch this lays down! I have gone through this with a fine tooth comb and I really like it, HOWEVER I have 5 sewing machines set up in my shop and only one ass to sit in front of them to sew! I'm going to cut back to just my 441's because they are faster and do better with biothane and nylon, but for heavy harness this ASE#9 is damn close to as good as a needle and awl machine. This machine includes Head video table with brand new gear reduced motor double toe harness foot custom made left toe harness foot $2,750 Andrew @ awharness.com

I have a singer 29-4 that is in great workable condition with the stand, probably 100 needles, and two boxes of prewound bobbins in #69 black. Machine sews good, I just don't use it! I had it in storage and it's dusty, I can blow it off and get it sewing. I would prefer pick up due to size, it is located in NH $400 -Andrew

Refurbished Adler 467... Is This My Best Bet?
awharness replied to Leslie Ryanne's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I don't really sew a ton of heavy leather, basically nylon, maybe up to 10 oz of oil or chrome tan, I have other heavy weight machines- 5 replies

Luberto Classic And Luberto No 7
awharness replied to Singermania's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Luberto's is getting up and running again! I have a #9, it's slow! Lays a good stitch, still like a 441, or hand stitch better! I talked to lubertos, sounds like minor differences in some bushings, and wear parts that makes It a bit smoother, and they have a better feet system that allows adjustment. -
Ideas For Sewing Machine Purchase
awharness replied to Eagle Crest's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
If you're going with a hand cranker, I'd say the cub over the boss, never used a cub, but I had a boss, wasn't impressed. Lubertos seems like a great guy! Plus, how hard would it be to add, a fly wheel and a sewpro gear reduced servo?? All of a sudden for under $200 more you have it powered! -
It says right in weaver that it's tanned in chanin tannery.... They even indicate the products used in their production. I think leather is six of one, half a dozen of anther. A lot of it has to do with the specific side. I use bridle and harness and have used most of the tanneries. This year I bought half a dozen sides from American leather direct, and half a dozen from thoroughbred leather. they're different leather for sure, in my opinion as good as, if not better than wickett and Craig, or Hermann oak for my application. I think it's important to talk to your leather guy and tell him what you're using it for!

I have an extremely nice Campbell Bosworth Stand up Stand for a Juki 441 or Knock off, or any other cylinder bed sewing machines. I wish this worked out for me! One of the nicest, heavy duty stands I've seen. However its a Stand up model! New sells for $600 Id sell for $400 with the clutch motor on it or $350 with out! see link below. If you need to stand up! Best bet would be to pick up in person, try it out if you want! I'm in NH, http://www.campbell-randall.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=49_55&product_id=1366

I've got a 9" and a juki 441, I sew mainly on the 9" guess it's the flavor of the month! 99% of what I do is OK on the short arm, but that 1% you need that extra room ... You're going to wish you spent the extra money!!! I also have an ASE #9 if I'm sewing heavy waxy harness leather... I like to hammer the stitches in with the "love potion #9"! But honestly... Can't go wrong with a 441 in any length, if you haven't sewn on a 16.5" and you get a 9".... You won't regret it
