the things i get talked into making
broncobuster replied to broncobuster's topic in All About Us and Off Topic
I posted before at least I thought I did in response to the responses lol but I guess it didnt go through. basically I just say measure twice and cut once lol. I spent 3 days on this thing making sure i had it fitted right n measured right. thats not full days I had customers and other projects I was doing also along with telephone calls etc... about the only thing I did wrong was face the opening of the pleats to the top instead of bottom. otherwise I tend to over build sometimes. customer liked it. its going to california and back so Ill find out if it survives the trip lol. there was grommets added after these pics and a rope through the bottom on all sides. so he can fasten down with bungees and rope. I do lot of different requests from this customer so I get variety -
this isnt leather but its some of the stuff I get conned into building lol I made the trailer top canvas. was interesting. turned out ok i guess . well of course those that know me im the zipper queen n of course heres the zippers. lol

Ted Flower saddles
broncobuster replied to justken's topic in Saddle Identification, Restoration & Repair
Ive got a ted flowers catalog from the 70s or 80s n i could of had one for 500.00 then ack just kick myself for never buying one. Bronc -
unfortunately I have to agree that people buy this stuff due to the name to brag they own one. Im sure at one time these companies in the beginning of there existance was a quality bag. unfortunately the quality goes away when quantity kicks in. Ive fixed many of the so called name brand bags n its poor quality materials. Ive fixed them shortly after purchase because its one of those bag parties n they dont want the hassle of returning it. its funny how someone will pay 100.00 n to the 1000s for a name when us lowly struggling leatherworkers can make a better quality item that will last past the credit card clearing. Id be shocked if someone actually paid me 500 to build a purse for them actually id faint. I know theres some on here that get big bucks for there stuff but unfortunately I have the bad luck curse and I have to nearly plead to get the prices i do get(cheap a** people). I keep saying someday Ill have a name-- other than zipper queen lol.

Stitching patches on leather motorcycle jackets
broncobuster replied to UKRay's topic in How Do I Do That?
I do biker partys n rallys n put thousands of patches on and being at a rally theres no room for mistakes n done in timely fashion. but mistakes do happen just be slow and precise. always check your liner n make sure coat is flat on table and be careful not to pull on liner as ya stitch. the mesh liners are more slippery n difficult sometimes. watch for padding and hidden zippers and the padding pockets inside in liner. I also sell patches and have over 1000 different patches. square edge patches are easy(round also) but the sqiggly, wavy, n pointed type edges can be a pain in the kister. sewing patches on is majority of my work along with selling the patches. every weekend Im at a party n sewing sewing sewing lol. if ya using the 29 hope you have a table for it. big patches can be very difficult to deal with on one of those. I use mine only for pockets n sleeves. have fun Bronco -
Hi all. my father passed away last week n when I was down home I noticed my mom still was carrying the wallet I made when I first started leatherworking which was um like well not to show my age but 30yrs ago. Ive improved a little since but I dont get to tool much these days. so not a lot of improvement. but my moms wallet was being held together with duct tape so I guess my mom likes it I guess. well she had dads wallet yet n a checkbook cover which I guess they didnt have the heart to tell me it just didnt fit the checks. so it still like new lol but I altered the checks to fit in it lol. so since at one time we were showing our beginning projects heres mine(thought I didnt have any left anywhere)hope ya like. not good pics i didnt have my camera. these were taken with phone camera.

heres my oldies. one is a champion straight sticther. it has the buffing n sanding bar hooked up to it. as to date im not sure but the motor had 1908 on it. this is a singer 111-w153 walking foot. it goes through a lot of stuff. this is the daily machine. the one i use to sew zippers in lol. its a singer but dont know model number. I use another one similar that goes to shows with me. its my favorite n work much better than this singer. its called an Anker n ive toted it around for 30+ yrs already and knock on wood its never had to be fixed. and finally( and not in the least my last machine lol) is one of my 29-4 I have a duplicate that also goes to shows with me. these are manually operated. I wouldnt use these any other way. the last 3-4 machines are used on a regular basis. the big ones are special projects. Im still setting up my shop. right now we are rewiring so shop is a disaster. hope ya like and sorry for the bad pics I dont have good lighting yet in shop and my camera is not the greatest. I have many more machines but there not set up there kind of in the corner but new projects keep coming up so soon ill have to get them going lol. thanks Bronc/Bonnie -
