Classy work Grunt. That's basically a concealed carry/off duty belt. They go for anywhere between 65 and 120 dollars each on the internet....a few pesos more if a stiffener is added between layers.

The complete rig looks great! Looks like you need to start going to the gun shows soon...a whole new line of stuff to make...

I'm a little confused. The website you gave goes to an auto trim place. But foolin around with the url got me to here: http://www.precisiontrimming.com/category.asp now that place has some weaving, and interesting products. If that's your co., it's pretty neat.

That's really Sumsing there...!!! Pretty damn funny.

Vista is crap, and XP is going to be supported by Microsoft for at least 5 years.....

Bruce. You don't need a third drive. You can partition the 2nd drive into smaller sections...one for docs, and pics, one for backups, etc. that way if one partition is corrupted for any reason, you still have the others. If you copy all your stuff from the primary drive over to the second drive, you won't have to erase any of your camera applications, or system type files. Once you copy all your valuables over to the new drive, you can delete the originals, freeing up space on your first drive...for all the applications you use, and any new ones you install.

By the time you buy a CD Rom, cd discs, and a hard drive, it sounds like you should run down to the big box store and just buy a new PC...probably better than what you have for around 4-500 dollars, along with a much bigger drive. The CD and Harddrive will probably run you about 150-200 dollars. If you bring your hard drive down to the store, they'll copy your stuff over. Don't forget to tell them you don't want VISTA. Tell them you want XP.

It could be that simple Luke...it could also be difficult. First. How big is the current Hard Drive. If it's like a 10 or 20 gig drive, you will have some problems. Modern Windows uses a lot of disk space for programs and system files, and every time you add an application it puts more files there, even if you install the App to another drive. As a rule, I generally give 10-20 gigs over to the Operating system. And then either partition the rest of the drive, or a second drive to use for apps, files, and documents. Big drives are cheap now, you may want to consider just buying a new drive, and reinstalling your operating system to it, using the partition scheme I mentioned. If you want to just add a drive.... Internal Disks are cheaper usually. Look inside the PC and see if the flat cable connected to your present hard drive has an additional plastic hookup piece to it. If it does you can add a second drive to your machine.(or add a flat ribbon cable that does have two HD hookups). USB/External drives are an easier install, generally a few milliseconds slower, though. The advantage is the mobility of the drive...you can move it between PCs. As an emergency method for immediate needs...first empty out your temp directory, in all users, then caches, etc. Delete any old apps you don't use. Do a search for big files, that will give you a sense of where your bloat is. Consider deleting MS Office, and install Open Office. It's a lot less bloated, works fine for most needs. You'll save some space, and be cool too. Of course moving to Linux will...nevermind...lol. Good luck. Ask more questions or just jump in...I'm sure there's enough expertise here to get you through this.

You probably should go down to the Hobby store and pick up one of those miniature kitchen sinks to put in there for the pix. It holds everything AND the kitchen sink...lol

which spacing between straps do you like better?
rdb replied to esantoro's topic in Satchels, Luggage and Briefcases
Ed, I don't think there is another person on this board who has examined large bags more than you. Your attention to the details shows in the bags you make. They not only look beautiful, but the details indicate a piece of leatherwork capable of lasting a lifetime, as they once all were. The test of time has always been in the little things that hold...dee ring straps, corner/end stitching, etc. Yours shows every indication of passing the test. Don't forget, that in the old days there was quite a good business for people who repaired things...i.e cobblers. Imagine that...jobs! Shoes were meant to be repaired/refreshed. They were not throw aways like today. If your straps were to fail at some future date, although I doubt they would under normal use, they are easily replaced. That to me, is an indication of something made well, and accessible to repair and modification. -

Question About Stohlman Holster Book
rdb replied to Jordan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Jordan..the guy who basically wrote all those patterns (Mr. Ghormley)just joined the forum in this thread: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...ic=1341&hl= Go to his website: http://www.willghormley-maker.com/OWCBuckles.html you'll see not only the patterns everyone buys, but ones that aren't usually at tandy's and others. -
I should be picking up my 3000 either tomorrow, or wednesday. What threads needles, and/or accessories should I get, over and above the default that it comes with? I want to be able to do heavier bags, concealed carry belts and the like, some bridle work, and hopefully the wallet/checkbook stuff. I work in groups, so once i re setup it will be for the week or so, not every other hour. I've got an idea of what I want to get, but I thought youse guys with experience may know better what to get at first, and for that matter, what not to bother with right now. I've seen the discussions the past few days about preferences of feet, and for what reasons. That stuff is filed away in my head. I sure do wish all the stuff from precrash was around...that really was a priceless bunch of information. After pouring your brains out back then, i'm sure it's like pulling teeth to have to repeat stuff you already worked so hard on writing. Which presser feet would you get, which plates? How many needles, and what size? How much thread, and what sizes? How many bobbins? Stuff like that.. When I started out many eons ago, I had a sailmaker's twin needle, that really worked well for me. I didn't have to do more than adjust tension, and it sewed just about everything I put under it. I never had extra feet or plates, etc. This choice thing is hurting my brain...lol Thanx in advance.

which spacing between straps do you like better?
rdb replied to esantoro's topic in Satchels, Luggage and Briefcases
There are a lot of optical distractions going on here, to consider comparisons. On the black bag, the clasp already makes the straps look closer. On the brown one straps narrowm aking the edge look further than it is. On the black one, the strap holders also make things look closer together. The whole front of that bag has a lot more than the brown one. I miss Manhattan. Bryant Park in the summer. Hey they just had fashion week there not too long ago. Did you get to go see anything. Any new leathers? -
which spacing between straps do you like better?
rdb replied to esantoro's topic in Satchels, Luggage and Briefcases
I have no preference...BOTH look great! I'm no good at guessing, BUT, if I was to guess, I think the straps on the black bag are closer, maybe only a quarter/half inch diff. -
Good stuff Tom! Welcome aboard. There's a few Helmeteers, and such here. You'll be a welcome addition. Maybe you could share your Hat making processes with us.

Fantastic first effort gary! Can't see on my computer, but is that real buckstitching too, or some kind of stamp/tooling? Either way, I like the way it looks....and as for Indians...woohoo!

Beautiful. The banner and stripes coming out of the right talon makes the leather look like it's really waving in the breeze...most excellent.
