Simple, and beautiful. Good color, nice job of dyeing. Lace is tight. Wish I had a chance to do one, but I'm not in the crowd any longer. After $600 Basket cases, they lost me...lol

Welcome Snuffy! NC here, too! You'll find all kinds of help and friends here. Looking forward to your pix.

Those are way kewl, and look very comfortable. I like the bib, and the bag too!

As one who lives in a rural area...I feel your pain. Neither of those options sound very appealing to me. First off, Satellite, is really only a nick above dial up. The speeds are deceptive, most often slower than advertised, really only a few notches above after all is said and done. Not to mention, unlike dsl, when it's raining, there probably will be lost service. The wireless card is absolutely faster, but with only one bar, there could be a problem. Sometimes, the companies will boost reception for their broadband area, but not as a rule. I would see if any one you know has this, and can test it out from your house....or get the Card company to come demonstrate. If they want money from you, there should be sales reps who can visit you. Don't bother talking to their reps on the phone...(get them there in person) either they will try and sell you, even if the reception is poor, or try and get rid of you, just because they're late for lunch If there is a Cable option for you, I would definitely explore that approach. Good luck!

That first picture shows the incredible amount of work involved in doing this work. Amazing...

I'm having great success using the Pure neatsfoot oil, and mixing with spirit dyes..I start with 3 parts oil, and 1 part dye. Test on scrap (same hide scrap) and then either add oil, or dye accordingly. If you finish it once, and want it darker just make a darker mix, but rub it on with a cloth not a dauber...that way you aren't over oiling. Make sure it dries for at least 24 hours before doing anything else, like a top coat. It doesn't darken any backgrounding so, either you have to paint with a brush, or use an antique over it.

I really like the dragon/snake. All of it is excellent color and design. -
That's some good work. I like the minimal use of lines, and the background shading...kewl.

Fits that hat perfect. Make sure you get picks of her wearing it....lol

Clean stitching, and binding. Tooling looks great, especially for the thin leather! -

Thanx everyone, I was out making a dog leash. I didn't expect all these responses, but I guess having the board down has everyone chomping at the bits...lol Spider/Tina...The color was actually 3 parts or so neatsfoot oil/1 part walnut spirit dye. When that dried, I went over it with light brown antique. Indy...I need a little more money from sales first, before I can buy any more stuff...that's why I'm making do for a bit. Expect an email when I'm ready.

Black on Black on Black

Great work as usual, Kevin. Sure does look comfortable soft. With the elephant, the owner will probably be able to pass it on to his grandkids kids. -
Thanx Kevin! There's quite a few mistakes in this one, but overall, it looked good, I thought. I need to get me one of them good basketweave stamps...my thirtyfive year old tandy one, just isn't cuttin' it.

First off, just glad to see we're back together. From my years in IT, the one thing I learned is the databases suck!, and I appreciate all the work Johanna, and CitizenKate are doing. No more sleepless nights for me, though...lol, I do leatherwork now.... I don't know if our previous posts will ever come back, but a little while back I did a "saddle" style guitar strap, and thought I'ld try my hand at another. This time, I included carving, and basketweaving, along with a latigo keeper, I cut out with my head knife. I wish I could afford a makers stamp, that latigo keeper cried out for one...maybe in a few weeks. Anyways here are the pix:

Thank You Johanna, and everyone else involved, for making the world right again.

they sell to everybody Alex. You get a special price if you have tax number. Just go online or ask them for catalog. I like your dog.

this was my attempt. 7/8 oz i installed it on a telecaster. edges haven't lifted so far, but additional screws wouldn't hurt probably. the string height was fine, don't know if gluing it to the plastic pickquard would add too much height, you'll have to measure. or cut out a piece of thinner plastic to glue to. http://www.leatherworker.net/forum/index.p...ic=2753&hl=

Jordan, just go into the synaptic package manager, under system/administration menu and choose gimp. Iit's 2.2v, but if you know your way around ububtu, you can go to gimp, and get the latest files for install (v.2.4) either way it works just fine

Merry, Merry everyone! My favorite part of Christmas is here: http://www.thecompassgroup.biz/merryxmas.swf

thanx tom. Yeh, i like the more complicated ones also, but it's difficult to come up with something new, without a sewing machine, or be willing to lace or sew for hours on end. Not a lot of customers out there for 300 dollar straps. There's a few people here doing the straps, and they have shown themselves to be far more talented than I. I made quite a few in the old days, but in the past few months, I've made maybe fifteen, and sold six. All of them are at my flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/meagert/sets/72157602911766738/ My goal is a strap that adjusts, without any hardware, that actually works for the user, and is different than the others out there on the innertubes. I may never get there, so in the meantime, I just make what they ask for.

not that i know. It ain't installed on mine, wolvenstein. sounds like you are overcomplicating. I just downloaded the file, put it where they told me, and it worked. yep citizen..I used to do it in PS too, and gimp has a built in drawing plugin, but the ink one looks better, so far. I stopped using PS, along with a lot of other programs, when they decided to charge outrageous amounts of money. IPros might be forced to use it, but us goobers can do most everything we need to with open source. That makes for a lot more Sam Adams for me!!

You are right gunfighter. Everyone would agree with you, including me. Take my advice only for unmolded things, I guess. I never did figger out why that was. A long time ago, in a land far away, I used to melt beeswax, neatsfoot, and dye together, and dip my knife sheaths in the mixture. Then bake at about 170-200f. They always came out retaining the mold, stiff, and had a nice waxy feel. I guess it was the heat that did the trick.
