Finally finished 1st bike seat
TomSwede replied to Scary Leatherworks's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Nice seat and interesting motif. The colour is nice and chocolaty. Tom -
Very nice! Gotta look into the aspects of how to do the pyrocarvin someday. Carving look really good! Tom

Definetly next level!! I'm so happy for you, you topped yourself with this one and considering the awesome mask you've done before I seriously doubt there's any limit to you. Go pop a cold one, my treat this time Tom Edit: just remembered that there is some kind of deity in the celtic tales called the green man, often depicted like this.

celtic wallet
TomSwede replied to carr52's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Who, way to go! My experiences with blue is that it's a very difficult colour to apply but I used a pure spirit one from a company in Denmark. Looking at this one I still feel that I'm quite fed up with celtic patterns, at least for bracers. It's a lot of work. Tom -
Hey darryl, that gargoyle is really eh..nice! Looking good! Tom

Awsum! Looking forward to this one! Tom

Just finished my Hunting Bag
TomSwede replied to manfrommuc's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
YES!! Johann, you got a right to be proud!! Outstanding classic design! I've been drooling over this design at Rene's website so now I see how the lacing is done for the first time. Very elegant and simple, just proves the phrase "less is more". Love that fox, it's underrepresented in leather design I think. I love foxes, dogbreed but clever as a cat. Nice to see measure in cm's for once;-) Tom -
I walked away frustrated.

Here's a version of what you describe only I did cut the tongue end but managed to go too far with the grover, lol. Fortune worked for me on this one 'cuz the end result came out quite neat I think...but it's not very often you get away from that Murphy's law. Robert and Ian! I used to do the same thing but recently I've been turning to the 'puter and LW when it's times up and a monitor can sure put tired to your eyes fast. I'm some 6-9 hours before the US population so this is usually when the forum is most active so it can get very late but, keeps me from going back to the leathers when I shouldn't. Tom -
I sure look forward to that Anne! They look like a ton of fun to make and they should be quite sellable . First of all I want a pair for myself! Tom

Let me tell you a funny one, His big machine was broken so I got it done with just a three needle machine setup. He had lots of WTF moments!!! Tom

Sweet sweet sweet. That is a nice braid but for me the whole purpose with braiding is to avoid having to do the tideous edging, lol;-) Tom

Very nice design! I love the colour combo! Well done! Tom

I made this one some years ago. It's lifesize and and when you I take it off I have this design tattoed underneath. Covers my whole underarm. It's a nice design so I should redo it, carving and tooling could be better and so could the colour scheme. I think it's about the same in complexity, I remember my head was spinning a lot after carving it. Tom

As usual a pure joy to see you putting the stamps to good use. Very creative. The belt stamping is awesome and the other ones is not very far behind. Tom -
celtic wallet
TomSwede replied to carr52's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice clean lines and smooth beveling. I'm thinking blue on black background. I have made a pair or two of bracers with that combo and I like it alot. Tom -
Stunning Anne, just stunning! I'd love to see how it's done and have a go. It reminds me a bit of the Shirleyz mexican roundbraid that I used on a handle with regular type of mexican on the side. I've been thinking on doing that one as a bracelet. Does this type have a leather at the bottom with holes that you lace through? Tom

Sheridan Checkbook
TomSwede replied to leather1214's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
That is really nice to look at. I'd like get it down like this...someday. Nice work with the backgrounding, it's tideous but pays of in the end. Tom -
Extraordinary!! You take the art of tooling skulls to the next level and I wouldn't be surprise if you suddenly came up with an embossed one aswell. Tom

Spider on a bellydancers tubby I'm sure He'll like that!!! It looks good and should not go to the trashbin, as with everything, improvements can be made but the design is great and I like the background style of it. Gotta try that sometime;-) It takes some time to get the hang of swivelknives and bevelers so you keep pounding and soon you'll be where you wan't to be and realize you want to learn even more so the feelin of wanna toss stuff in the bin won't go away I think. The girl has probably never seen anything like this so she won't take much notice of the stuff you were unhappy with. I once saw a good piece of advise on here and that was, what makes a good leatherworker is his ability to cover for the mistakes. Your design is quite advanced so the the whole of it all is what does it so good. I'm doing new stuff right now that has been a rollercoaster of emotions. One day crap, next day ok, next day super and so on.. Just proves that we're thinking and care about what we are doing. Tom

Been Busy Doing Non-Leatherwork
TomSwede replied to Beaverslayer's topic in All About Us and Off Topic
Know the feeling! I've been the photographer for my whisky club on a 7 seven day field trip to scotland. Been home for over a week now and still has some photowork left to attend (mailing to people we've met etc.) Now I'm picking up pace on leathers again but valuable time was lost, I have alot of work to do and most are comissions + people requesting stuff. Well, with that vest you made Ken, you sure have deserved a nice vacation from leathers;-) Tom More pictures here: www.geflemalt.com/islaytour2008.html -
Oh yeah, this looks nice. The construction is more complex than one might think. I like the brass turn lock, adds a nice touch. Well done! Tom
