  1. Do any of you superb holster makers have a pattern for a Springfield Armory XD sub-compact 3" 9mm? Better yet- would any of you like to make one for me? I would like a pancake forward cant style to handle up to 1 1/2 " belt. pete
  2. generally, chaps are full length leggings that protect the rider from rain ,snow brush, cactus, etc. Chinks are popular where the brush is more sparse and you jeans won't get torn up, it's hot weather, and the leather still protects and cushions the rope across your thigh when roping, and pulling. I've worn mostly chinks in Nevada in the summer but I still tucked my pants into my 16" tops. pete
  3. can't do anything about it. It's a goner. try a ceramic blade if you don't like metal. I wouldn't switch. Just sold a Henley. LOVED the barrel but the ceramic wouldn't fit into it! pete
  4. for starters- I think that it looks really neat the way you have done it! If you are talking about the very bottom I don't see a problem. If you didn't intend to have such a large "crease" then rubber cement the gusset to the outside and use a punch or lacing nippers and punch each hole after it's in place. Did I get the problem right? pete
  5. there's an erasure that Springfield leather and others sells. It is the same material that those 60's thick gum rubber shoe soles were made of. Get one and you will use it for life. It erases everything! They are the best for glue be it rubber or contact cement, trag, crazy glue et. they are cheap, last forever, and if it gets dirty or crumbly take it outside and rub it on the concrete a few times to clean it. Ask for Bo at Springfield in MO. He showed it to me and will know. pete
  6. what type of tools do you need? Just tell us and we'll see what we can do!! pete

It's $80.00 new and I will sell the knife and barrel for $60.oo and I'll ship it or...... I'll sell the blade (1/4" angled, hollow , for $25 ($27.50 new + no shipping) or...... I'll swap for things that I need: steel beader blade(I have the ceramic and don't like it) 1/2" french edger BISSONETTE # 2,3,4 or any size( I REALLY want one of these) strap cutter ANYTHING that you have to trade can be old or used but must be useable and sharp. The Henley is like new and I have only stropped it so it's new condition. Let me know what you think. SADDLEMAKERS---I KNOW that you have collected a ton of tools over the years that you have multiples of. Merry Christmas all pete
  10. I JUST bought it for $45.00. Didn't dicker nor care as to the cover condition. pete
  11. Got to tell you- that bass is REALLY neat!!! I just made my first sheath too without a pattern or clue. Came out so well that I traded it for a fee haircut today. My barber is into mules and re-inactment gatherings. He was so impressed that he wanted all of my old LWJ copies, pull our patterns , extra tools and some lessons! I will set him up with a few necessary tools, a mallet, stone and a swivel knife or two. pete
  12. What a wonderful group we have here. I just received an email from one of the members who asked for my address and he would make one for free. I insisted on paying/trading but he said that it would be enough to send him the first "slicked" piece that I made- no matter what. I was thinking this afternoon about how blessed we are- regardless of our origin, financial status, living situation, etc, EVERYONE here is a very special person. Think about it. We have a hobby/profession in the arts. That excludes millions upon millions of people who love creating, designing, working with their hands, using their minds, satisfying an impulse to CREATE! I have a feeling, (and have witnessed over and over) the care and attitude of the worldwide members here. Someone is sick, needs a hand, needs money, just wants to vent or reach out and in minutes the forum is filled with caring, concerned people FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.-people whom we will NEVER MEET! Birthdays, folks passing, children hurt, you name it and we all respond. This is truly a family of like minded artisans and I am so grateful to be a part of and accepted by you. May God continue to bless all of you and keep you well this Christmas season.....and on. Pete adams and family.
  13. thank you Tom! I really appreciate your comments. I hope to get better too!!!!
  14. ps- the spine is one of my belt patterns not up to Hidepounders , jreddings, or 500 others but she likes it> Guess that's all that matters
  15. Verlane showed a really nice slicker. It was, I believe, 1/4" plexiglass roughly 4hx6w and a neat pvc handle. I have NO tools here other than a small dremel and a B&D drill. Would one of you like to make one for me? I will be glad to pay what you think that it is worth including shipping. Any takers????? pete
  16. Absolutely gorgeous! Is there ANY way that you could do, say a 2-4 frame simple tutorial on how you plan/do your finger cuts. I have studied yours and others and can't seem to figure out where to start. Do you start at the base of the corners and works your way to the center, then up and outwards, start high on the edges and work to the bottom corner, do the left and try to match with the right, etc??? again- really beautiful work. respectfully pete
  17. take each end and continue in the same direction(s) 1-2 holes and cut off flush. Basically like backstitching but in opposite directions. no need for a knot pete
  18. I'm curious as to why you don't like the Bee Natural RTC? It's so easy to use and seems to block well. pete
  19. got a job making a few dozen I.D. tags. I punch a hole for a split ring attachment but I want to put an eyelet in the hole. I have the little brass TLF ones that are pre-cut/scored . What should I use to tap down the brass notches. I have been bending each one down with the tip of a screwdriver! Is there a simple tool to crimp it properly? pete
  20. really nice work! Question- how do you do the individual slots for credit cards and such? I mean, how do you make them so that they each have pockets(bottoms) to keep the upper rows from slipping all the way down? I don't see any stitching other than the completed front panel/ pete
  21. Jeff Mosby-Grey Ghost Graphics. can't go wrong- good quality, fair price, quick and professional service pete
  22. thank you all for the information.Now- does anyone want to sell/send me some scraps! kowboyboots- thanks for the ebay information but I can't see paying $10.00 shipping on a pound of scraps even though the bid was $1.99 when I last looked. Luke- you are close by- want to sell some scrap and send it ground? or maybe someone in Arkansas (Harrison, hint hint?)
  23. I think that 4 to 5 sq ft would last me quite awhile. I use a lot but they are almost all 2-3" squares for buffing, antique-ing,etc. pete
