I had a guy bring me what he calls a "Kentucky Rollback" saddle. It needs new stirrup leathers. Honestly, I have no idea how to make them or how long they shoudl be. The guy is only about 5' 3" tall and weighs about 130 pounds. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I will try to get a picture and post it in the next couple of days. Anyone that makes this kind of saddle let me know as this winter he may want one made. Thanks

I will admit I did not read all the posts on this thread but I have to agree that I'm here not only to learn more but also to help others. I love doing the leatherwork I do. Will also admit that I have spread myself way too thin and trying to do too much and don't do any of it real well. I have given away pattern when asked and most of the time covered the postage. Made a few trades with some people and sold items for others here. In the future, I think before the end of the year, I may be advertising a couple sewing machines for sale. I believe that the Lord blessed me when I got started so I am trying to be a blessing to others by helping them. I also believe the leather working is a dying art. I personally have not run in to anyone on this site that was not ready and willing to help. I got flower patterns on here and now I make the flowers and that is my most requested item for the past six months. This site has such a wealth of information from the people here that it is just amazing. Someone said something about watch the way others do things, adjust it to work for you and improve upon it. There are not many things that can only be done one way only. I would tell others to try it and then make it work for you.

Very informative. Thank you very much for adding this.

I think they all look great. The pattern for the hondas, is that the Mexican swivel honda in Grant's book? Also, what button on the knife handle? I have one I need to do but have not even started to think about it yet. Again, great job and thanks for posting them.

Are you putting the leather into boiling water to make it hard? If so, it will also shrink some. It will probably mess up your tooling. Take a small piece, maybe a 6 X 6 piece and experiment.

Very nice to have you on board. Where in Nebraska are you? I grew up in Mason City. I'll be back there this weekend. Let me know where you are and I may be able to stop in and say hi.

Very, very nice. I may "steal" the way you do the green leaf under it.

Looks great. Is the pattern from the Bruce Grant book? I need to make a few of teh Mexican Swivel Hondas. Looks like this would do the same. The only suggestion I would have and you probably already know is to keep the wire under the burner. Keep posting.

Pm me with your name and address and I will photocopy a coupld of pages from Ron Edward's book on patterns. I will also include titles and such. These are very easy to follow instructions and well written. Unfortunately I can only send you enough to whet your appetite and then you will want to buy the book.

These were hand cut roo lace and braided by a young man in my area. He wanted help selling them so I thought I would post them here. He wants $700 for the red and $750 for the multi color. Actual shipping cost will be added but nothing else for me. This young man is going to college and needs to earn some money to help pay for school Thanks for looking.

Very nice Mike, Keep posting the pictures. I want to make a set of these when I get done with the two saddles I'm making now. I will be asking you for some advise and which buttons when I get going.

Look really good, Josh. Guess I need to get the DVD from Mark and get working on some more. I need another set for me since my son took my only set of chinks.

Very nice. Can you tell us how you do the horsehair and keep it from unraveling while braiding your buttons? As far as that goes, while braiding the horeshair too. I have had people ask in the past if I braid horehair but have never tried.
