  1. Very nice to see the correct instructions for hand sewing in a detailed, comprehensive article. Tony.
  2. If you are using your awl properly and setting your stitch you get that "Zig Zag" effect, it's an indication that you are doing it correctly. It isn't really a Zig Zag, the stitch just lays to the left or right depending on how you are holding your awl. Have a look at the leather point or twist on the needles for sewing machines, you can choose left or right twist on the needle! Tony.
  3. Can the Vinegaroon be made using Brown Vinegar or does it have to be White? Tony.
  4. What's the name of the book. I have a close friend who trades in books. Tony.
  5. I don't know what choices you have over there but out here I have 3 choices, soft, medium or strong! The strong ones are very hard to open. They are used for diff applications depending on the strength required. Are you using the correct one? Tony.
  6. And they do say that "Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery" Tony.
  7. I've only ever used Dixon in the past and a couple of Osborne bisonettes but last year I bought 3 of Ron's edgers and they are far better to use than the old Dixon ones and are easy to sharpen when they get dull. Pity I won't be buying any more this year as our dollar is only worth 62 cents today. Tony.
  8. These knives of mine I've had and used for 40 years except for the light coloured handled knife which I've only had for 30 years. There is 1 x Barnsley, 1 x T Dixon& Sons, 1 x J. Dixon, 1 x J. Dixon & Sons and 4 Osborne knives with different stamps. These all hold razor edges, especially 1 of the Dixon and the Barnsley, and are easy to sharpen. These knives are basically the same shape as when I first got them and are used practically every day and hold there edge. I'm sure these aren't any modern space age steel with fancy names and numbers and a couple of them probably go back to the beginning of the 20th. century but they are a pleasure to use. Tony.

  11. It could be Cornucopia, the Horn of Plenty, after the financial crash! Tony.
  12. Perhaps for straining something. Tony.
  13. I had someone call and ask if I have heard of Ultrasuede, (not sure of spelling) material that is used for making chaps. I've never heard of it or used it. Has anyone on the Forum heard of it or used it. Next question is if you have, can you tell me who stocks it? Tony.
  14. I see that you have some nasty bushfires going on over there at the moment. Our bushfire season is just about to start out here. I hope none of us on LW have any problems . Tony.
  15. It proves a point, doesn't it?
  16. Ed, if it's anything like a 132-k6 it wont. The head must weigh about 80 pound! Tony.
  17. Is this someone related to you, Bob and how did it happen? Tony.
  18. Johanna, how do you deep fry an Oreo? Do you coat it in batter, breadcrumbs or what? Tony.
  19. Looks like it will withstand hurricanes and earthquakes!
  20. Plenty of Oreos and Tim Tams down here. Also crumpets and muffins and scones. We'd have hot scones once or twice a week for morning tea which contributes to me being slightly overweight, but she loves me!! I had a customer in the other day and we were discussing food and she said if you smear some Vegemite over potatoes before you bake them it makes them more delicious and if you do the same with a leg of lamb it is also very tasty! I haven't tried it yet so I can't comment, but I will try it within the next week or so and give you my verdict. Tony.
