  1. Ok this was an experiment first to see what the oxblood would look like as well as backing a bracelet with black suede leather as I have never really backed any of the bracelets that I have done in the past. So here is the question first off with the oxblood can I get a brighter red? As this I do love the color but it kind of came out darker then I really wanted. If I can get a brighter red how do I do it. I have been using eco flo dyes (water base) and I know I can cut it with water so what do I use for the oil based dyes to cut it? Thanks all
  2. Ok so I am thinking about using some of the cova colors that Tandy supplies, basicly leather acrylic paints. I am thinking about using it on parts of a corset I am making. Now the questions I have are A: Does the acrylic paint scratch easy..if so how do you protect it and B: will it crack and flack off with a lot of movement as if you look at the picture I have added you will see the tooling I am thinking of using the cova colors on the back ground I am going to be using a forest green with a black antique gel dye. Thanks for the advice
  3. Thanks Rosiart I am using 6 to 7 oz leather to get way with out needing to do the actual boning. I will look into trimming it and see how that goes.
  4. I like that especially the way you have the shoulder strap running!
  5. Well if you want to go for the natural but a little darker color for the belt what I do is put a little super shen on the belt (leaving the belt natural) normally just a coat maybe two max, then I use the aussie conditioner on it. Now I have found that the aussie conditioner will actually darken the color of the leather just a little bit which I do like a lot. But as Monica says you do need to do a bit more upkeep on the aussie condisinter, now I have heard that you can use something called corbasol not even sure if that is how you spell it but its basically a top coat but it will darken any stains or dyes you use by almost one color or so I have heard never used the stuff myself.
  6. Ok this is the VERY first corset that I have done so far. I think its coming along nicely but my question is a rather simple one, as you can see in the picture the bottom line does not seem to flow all that well with the upper line. so when I put this together do I follow the top line and let the bottom line fall where it may and then cut the bottom just a touch or just put it together fully and leave it how the pattern shows it?
  7. I like the idea for the watch slot might have to give that a go myself! Great work!
  8. how much hide do you go through to make that? and very nice!
  9. I agree with everyone here mate those are way to nice to be work boots lol really cool!
  10. Seeing her in her currant costume and the one that you have made honestly mate its amazing what you have done!!!
  11. I really like that! And I have to agree the rivets look much better then sewing. Tommorow I start my very first corset
  12. I really like that, and cool idea about making a case within a case with the use of the pvc piping!
  13. Ok so this was the very first hat I have ever made. Its triple stitched...all hand sewen but when I bent the brim of the hat for some reason one side has developed a few wrinkles. So the question is why would it do that? The hat pattern came from tandy and the size is off just a hair so I had to get my hat spreader out and stretch it just a touch but now it fits rather well. The hard part was getting the brim and the top of the hat attached. The holes on the pattern were way to close to the edge so had to readjust it just a touch. But over all I am happy with the way it turned out!
  14. Oldtoolsniper I feel for you on that sizing the case properly decided to make a "phone case" the other day well it does what I wanted it to...but unforitnatly instead of holding just one phone I can stuff about 6 of them in to it plus my wallet...lets just say the case is a bit big LOL
  15. I have to say I have workbench envy as well...since the in laws have moved in with us my "work space" is only 3/4s of the dinning room table which we really do not eat at in the first place! Love the boots
  16. Showed this to my wife..and she said this is the exact reason I should never have kids...women...no sense of humor!!
  17. Yeah I have to agree the leather will give out a lot sooner then the thread!!
  18. Looks stunning bet it took you a while to make them!
  19. Yeah the lace does need to be a little tighter saw that once I had finished as there are a couple of spots that seemed just a bit looser then the rest, did mash it down with a hammer a bit to get it to match up a bit. The angle is one thing I still have a little trouble getting when going around a curve, just with the punches but still learning. Thanks for the compliment and the advice Eddie! Going to be making another one in the near future. Once I get an eyelet punch!
  20. Thanks did find out I need yet another tool uggg something to set eyelets with lol
  21. Well this is the very first biker/trucker heck wallet period that I have done I really like the way this has turned out. and with out the chain might beable to sell them as a woman's hand purse. Not the best of photos as I used my phone to take these. Has 5 pockets total and I make the chains so they do not cost me that much.
  22. Well decided to try to make something with guessets thought a cell phone holder would be nice well this thing instead of holding just one cell phone well lets say I could fit at least 6 Samsung S5's very easily in this case lol...sides are a bit wider then needed. But it was an interesting expericement the wife still wants to find something "diffrent' to use as a closure so right now there is nothing to keep the lid closed, but it does sit nicely on its own. Also tried two different styles of hole punches for the lace so the wife could see the diffrences between them. Did use two different kinds of thread as I wanted the bottom to hold tighter and didn't think lace was a good idea for that.
  23. Very nice looking keep at it =)
