  1. It will last a lifetime. Welcome to the forum, and enjoy yourself.
  2. The ones I have seen in stores have a latex pocket of some sort. Though a hundred years ago I imagine leather only was good enough. I was hoping someone could lend us some insight.
  3. Nice design. They match each other really well.
  4. 4-5 ounce should be good, but I'm no expert.
  5. Great job.
  6. My wife and I tried our first booth a few weeks ago. She is an artist finally putting herself out there. She sprung the event on me so I had nothing ready to go. But here are somethings i learned. Make your booth as inciting as can be. I noticed people not wanting to come "in" to the booth out of some form of wierd forced obligation. So, maybe try to make a front line for your spot. That way when they walk up they can just walk down the front line without feeling obligated or intimidated. Think about how gun show booths are set up. Another thing I saw was there was no man candy at the event. It was all knick knacks, food, and jewelry. The men looked bored as their wives led them around the event. Get some things in there that will draw the men. They need something to do and someone to talk to. When we went to Eureka Springs this year we found a great little shop. This guy had knives, purses, and shoes. Excellent business model to include the whole family. We spent more than an hour in his shop and had a great time. My wife bought a new top and I got a new knife. Hope this helps.
  7. Do you have to add the latex liner or can you just make it out of only leather? Thanks.
  8. Very nice belt. I really like your stamps.
  9. I found this today at Michaels mj design. I imagine hobby lobby also has them. This one was 30 bucks and has a temperature adjustment, but it didn't have an actual creaser tip. I don't know if there is a standard size they all follow or not.
  10. Wuta leather has a good review from leathertoolz. I don't own them yet.
  11. I started with the fiebings spirit dyes and never looked back. I haven't tried the water based ones and probably won't. Enjoy yourself.
  12. Great job. I'm no fan of lacing but it accents the big croc pattern really well.
  13. Use s spoon as a foot/backer. Just hold the leather down with a spoon and pull the nail out. Get creative. I have seen people here using a common fork as a stitching chisel. It helps even out the spacing.
  14. Of course. We lefties have to stick together.
  15. Ahhh harbor freight. It's like dollar general for men. I hold that places in the same regard as my father. They sell a bunch of cheap crap, however, if you need some wierd tool for one or two uses, harbor freight does the trick.
  16. Great job. It's good to have another southpaw in the mix.
  17. I'll be watching for answers. https://www.etsy.com/listing/211974924/electric-leather-tools-copper-edge?ref=similar_listings_row Saw this one on etsy the other day. I've never used any of them.
  18. Welcome to the forum.
  19. How about Hong Kong? https://www.etsy.com/listing/211974924/electric-leather-tools-copper-edge?ref=similar_listings_row
  20. Love it. It looks like a wooden waterfall.
  21. We're in it together. I've been at it off and on for two years now. I'm an older newbie, but I have a 3 year old so I don't get much time at the bench. Also, being married to an enthusiastic are teacher is a lifestyle in itself. Example: Saturday morning I wetter some leather for casing. I spent the entire day working an art booth with my wife. Came home Saturday evening and grandma brings the boy home. So, we played for awhile. Sunday morning I checked and my leather still seemed like it would be ok for some stamping. But, after church, I had to go pick up the huge class project and come home and help my wife grout it. Then today, I had to take off work early and carry it out to the exhibit. And set it up. Long story short, I'm about to go to bed. They are totally worth it though.
