  1. Thanks to Jeff, I will never make a YouTube video. Lol.
  2. I'm just happy if I can get something close to similar to the dye name in a single color.
  3. The way I post pics is like this.... I upload them to Facebook. Then I save them to my device (phone). When uploading here I have the option of choosing from a Facebook folder on my phone. The pictures were automatically resized. Tadaaaa!
  4. Don't quote me or anything, but from what I have seen.... Anytime it has darker areas in the tooling it is antiqued. Out side the realm of tooling burnish. I haven't seen any leather examples with crackelure?.
  5. Keep on keeping on. I have been toying with a few ideas on stuff. Skiving knife = old sharp planer blade? Japanese knife = good sharp chisel? I've just been thinking about them so far.
  6. I'm with you. I know a pretty simple trick is to add some antiqueing gel over a lighter base stain. You have to seal it first. I think they use resolene.
  7. "Josh, Jim, and JLS (and more than a dozen others here...) are all painting masterpieces. I'm still coloring with crayons." I'm still scribbling on concrete with rocks.
  8. Thanks for the pattern.
  9. Wow, and I thought I had it. I was doing it backwards and I was making sure to not loop the threads together. Thanks.
  10. Thanks, I hadn't had time to watch the second video yet. I'll check it out.
  11. Thanks. I may make some other hybrids. Maybe one of these too.
  12. That is awesome. Can I steal the concept?
  13. Make sure and post pictures.
  14. Ok, I think I'm seeing it. Is the bottom pocket using the body for the front of the pocket? That's what I'm seeing since your stitch is across the tops of those pockets. I'll stick with my simple pockets, but I love learning. Thanks for mitigating my ignorance.
  15. I thought using to thinner leathers cemented together was the best idea I've heard. Then you have a finished grain side all the way around. Just my opinion.
  16. That is a really great picture. Like front page of the website good picture.
  17. Thanks Art, that has been bugging me for about 2 months now. None of the video as I have seen ever show them removing the nails. Now it makes more sense to my "carpenter brain". Do they use any glue when attaching the upper to the last? So, it would stay put as they pull the nails?
  18. That Parkman video was neat, but again, no mention of where all the nails went that they hammered into the last. Just boggles my mind.
  19. What a beautiful set up. Sorry you have to sell it.
  20. Here is something to add. I have a hide from Tandy that just won't evenly take diluted dye of any mixture. I was using fiebings mahogany. It continued to come out putrid variations of purple with darker specs all over it. I had this same result with daubers, sponges, and dip dyeing. I finally had to resort to full strength. This left me with a black piece with a hint of purple. So, take note of the leather you are using. Cheap leather can leave you blaming the dye or technique, when you should really be addressing the material. Just a heads up.
