DONT USE COTTON BATTING! The stuff will break down under your leather. Use only neoprene foam. That is the stuff they make boat cushions out of. David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Please keep Donny Loos in your thoughts and prayers
David replied to David's topic in All About Us and Off Topic
Thanks to all who included Donny in your prayers; Donny is due home from the hospital today! He is doing fantastic. And yes everything still works.....arms, legs, and memory. He is a very lucky fellow. Dave -
Ian, The only problem that I see is that bobber seats are not frame mounted seats and require mounting studs and also studs to mount the springs under the seat. So four studs in all. I think you can see a few seat backs on my site. David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

the seat edges were first sprayed either black or medium brown (Tandy pro dye) after that the entire seat was sprayed with buckskin dye. This was followed by Fiebings sheridan antiquing paste. The final coat was leather balm with atom wax. David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Thanks Troy, I appreciate your looking at the seats. Dave Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Very similar to what my son did with his new kangaroo skin soccer (futbol) boots. He would lace his new boots on with two pairs of socks, then stand in a tub of warm water until they were completely soaked through....then he would play soccer, or just run and pass the ball around for about 30 minutes....then he carefully removed the laces and carefully removed the boots and allowed them to air dry. After that they felt like custom made boots, made just for his feet. Of course they were made to last just a season maybe 15 games and 30 or so practices. Pricey for $140 boots. Dave Theobald

Regis, BE CAREFUL about the fan you use....the fumes going through this fan could be flamable...you don't want an electrical spark in a spray booth fan....You need a totally sealed motor. David Theobald

Here is one for Donny Loos at Sucker Punch
David replied to David's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Sorry for missing this post, "can you feel the lacing?" No this if flat cut lacing and lays very flat. If I use single loop, I put it very close to the edge where you don't actually sit on it.David Theobaldhttp://theobaldleather.com Thanks spider,The encouragement is always welcome.David Theobaldhttp://theobaldleather.com -

A sporran inspired purse....very nice. David Theobald -
I've been using the plastic butter tubs that are everywhere today. I store dye mixes in them and they are cleanable and you can recycle them when they get to funky to clean David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Now I really like this one Beeze. I'll bet it was difficult, it is essentially square. I'd love to see a feather tutorial..... you do them so well. I just finished a black version of the Victorian Scroll, but I'm not even going to post it after seeing this..... Dave Theobald

Hi Tina, Thanks for taking a look at the seats. With regard to the color blending, I have an old....no make that ancient....Paache double action airbrush, Model VL I believe. It does a nice job on the color fades. David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Johanna, I am surprised that more Tandy managers don't have work group evenings. Lots of fun and a good way to form loyal customers. I was so glad you managed to get to our meeting. We usually have a pretty good time and your time was much in demand as everyone wanted Johanna to see their work. Nothing like being a celebrity eh? The group barely gave you time to look around the store! Hopefully you will be able to make another meeting sometime even though it is a long ride for you. David Theobald

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I sure means a lot coming from this group. Grumpy Yes some of my original sheath work, back in the day....before motorcycle seats...wish I still had the time David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Two of these have been shown before....The dark to lighter brown was just finished this morning. I laced it during the Red's game last night! Tell me what you think. David Theobald http://theobaldleather.com

Hedge, If you are familiar with the typical round braid (How to Lace booklet by Tandy) where ever those instructions tell you to loop under a previous strand, loop over instead.....so basically you go three holes forward and two back....makes round braiding very fast.....Thanks ShirleyZ for showing us.
