  1. Norman is adorable! Hopefully he will grow up and be a good yak! Congratulations, Grammy Yak! Crystal
  2. That is beautiful, Kathy! I cannot wait to see this finished! Crystal
  3. Thank you, Clay! Great write up. I liked the texture you got with the tape. Any trouble with residual tape stickiness on that? Would that texture technique would work for the cat-o-nine tails? And - the usual question - what weight leather are you using? 6-7 oz? You've done such a nice job on this tutorial - I actually think I can do it. Crystal
  4. Thank you, Tina! This is why I admire what you do, you think outside the box and turn something simple into something beautiful. Thanks for sharing this! Crystal
  5. Another beautiful cover, Tina! I am loving the mouse and mushrooms! Crystal
  6. Yeah - now that's a checkbook cover for the daughter of a leatherworker! Jessi has some really good design sense and it sounds like she pays attention to what dad does in his shop. Flames and hearts look great with her suggestions. I like the addition of the plugs for the lettering, also. Great project! Crystal
  7. Hi Josh- I like the font that you have on the right-hand one. Make sure to capitalize the "h" in "Halters". I'll let others chip in on layout and design, I'm not very good at that. Keep tweaking! Crystal
  8. Happy Birthday, Jim! Hope you have a wonderful day! Crystal
  9. Clay - You did a fabulous job on the wren! I am glad to see it popping up as your avatar, it deserves some showing off, especially since you did him on a piece of scrap... Thank you for taking the time to do a write-up. I don't think you are allowed to call yourself "color challenged" anymore. I will second or third or fourth the motion that you should teach more classes. I think you are a natural for it. Of course you have a fan club! Start teaching classes so we can get promoted from fans to groupies. Crystal
  10. Karl- Very happy to hear that Auntie Megan is doing well! I would be quite pleased to sport a purse that looks this good. Beautiful color. Excellent job all around. She should be very happy with this. Crystal
  11. Hope you have a very happy birthday, and many, many more! Crystal
  12. Nice job, Randahl. I also like the face being blank. How did you do the coloring on that? Crystal
  13. Russ - that hit a funny bone! I will not be able to look at my shop vac the same again. After reading all this- I either am not very imaginative, or have not had inanimate objects with enough charater to be worthy of being named. The hubby, however, does name his things. But he is not terribly imaginative either, they are all called the same thing - "Mine". Crystal
  14. Nice job, Josh! "Dusty Chaps LeatherWorks" I like that! Crystal
  15. Very nice, Mark. I like the contrast you got from using the latigo!
  16. Thanks guys and gal! Josh- It just looks like I have been busy - I won't tell you how long I've been working on these! Clay - Thanks alot, but I can't take credit for the reflection... that's all font. What did we do before the internet? I am understanding the frustration voiced by those who have done snaps and rivets, now. I would rather hand sew! Thanks again, everyone! Crystal
  17. Happy Birthday, Josh! 22? I don't even think I ever remember being 22. Hope you have a wonderful day! (Two mugs of frothy cold milk.) Crystal
  18. Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone! Had some fun with these. ArtS- I incorporated the seam into the left border of the pattern, it is an overlapping seam and glued together. I put some double stick tape on the back to help hold the concave shape, but the cover can be removed if needed. Thanks again! Crystal
  19. Hi All- Just a couple of things I have finished up. Photo Album for a baby: Flask I did for the PIF: I used Clay Miller's pattern from the LC&SJ. Thanks Bert! And a 64 oz removable flask cover. A Thirst Aid Kit. Back has a cup holder. Thanks for looking! Crystal
  20. [quote This scrapbook cover was one of my first figure carving projects. Notice all the dye spots on the carving from trying to dye the background. The back has a spot the size of a dime spilled on it. Clay- Now if you hadn't mentioned the spots, everyone would have thought they were there because they are antiques, not from mistakes. I've always been a fan of that last picture. I don't think you can say "cowboy" any better than that. I think it's great that all of those pieces are still around. Thanks for giving us a peak! Crystal
  21. I'm going to post two firsts. First try at tooling: During that attempt I determined that swivel knives were evil and there was no way they could be used by the average citizen. I decided that I would never try that "tooling" stuff again! Since I was never going to use a swivel knife again, I moved on to this: This became a failure because the flaps cracked and split on the bend and the straps also cracked and spilt. I have learned so much since finding this wonderful place full of talented folks. I would redo that set of bags and do them the right way except I just can't bring myself to punch all of those holes and do all of that lacing again! Crystal
