Well I did call a couple of times, the first call was that particular leather wasn't on hand and needed to be run and would be about a week. So then I call back today and sorry to say I got a little bit of run around at first the gal said she would check and get back to me, well I am sort of an impatient kinda guy when I tell someone I would get back to them I mean that to be in a few hours, well after a few hours after not hearing anything I call back, then I am told she cant find out till tomorrow cuz everyone left at 2:00 and being that last Friday and Monday was inventory she want sure. So then she tells me that she should have an answer tomorrow.

this has been a while, but not a few years old. I was beginning to wonder if I made the right decision in ordering from W & C, and after hearing all the high praise for their leather I went ahead and pulled the trigger (pun intended) on some 8/9 oz leather natural carving for some holsters (5) that I need to make. But it is now going on 2 weeks so did the search here and found out what other have experienced in the wait times, so I guess I shouldn't be to peesed off yet, but I was wondering if I should cancel and order from Weaver but I guess I will hold on a while longer as long as the customer isn't screaming yet, and I have kept them up to date on the wait.

ya that would probably work, but I don't use it as much and looking into another sander as I use a sanding drum in it more now than burnishing.

I would stay with American made, I have one of those kits that I bought off another member her and it works great, I also have the drill press one that I made, the only problem with it is I can start to hear the bearings a little more as they are not made for side torque. Bit my drill press is a HF so not good quality to start with.

they are different and model specific, however instead of buying 2 molds, one with and one without, now you can just get the one at a savings of 30, 40 dollars, that is the point that was trying to make. My take on it is that Crimson Trace was asked to make the shells available to holster makers at a reasonable price so that the makers wouldn't need 2 molds of the same gun, one with and one without, just get the one mold slide on the shell when needed or if needed being you would have saved the pattern. And Crimson Trace complied and made those available.

I am not going to dispute any of your points, but you did make one good point, they chose to do that everyday and assume the risk that goes with it? But does that mean for all the hours that they don't do anything but ride around in a nice car, at tax payers expense, justify a discount farther than the free donuts and drinks that they should pay any less at any other place of business? Like I said I am agreeing with you on one point but disagree on others, Police and fireman sign up for the great pay and the risk that they might take from day to day, but todays military is all volunteer and sign on the dotted lined to defend our country from all evils both foreign and domestic for far lessor pay. And however we are finding that there are a great deal many bad on the local forces that only know what they are taught at the academy, and that they are always right, and everyone is always guilty, and jump to take the rights, that the Sailor or Solder would fight to keep. And we could go on and on and this could get fugly ugly, but as you can see I do see it from your perspective slightly but see it from military point being a vet. Now it is your turn, but just call tandy and complain so that you can get the discount so that you will still pay more that the other distributors because they don't give a hoot about you, me or the next guy they just want the profits off of imported leather.

I can understand where Dwight is coming from, they all serve or have served but in different capacities. Cops do put their lives on the line everyday in all communities especially in todays environment, firemen well and I do know or have known both in big cities Los Angeles. When another fireman calls off for an extra day his fellow coworker gets overtime to the tune of big dollars, a cop that I did my Bachelors and Masters with is making to the tune of 250,000.00 grand a year not bad for a motor cop in Culver City or down town L. A. But an E4 or 5 until you put in over 20 and are a commissioned officer, that is my take anyway!

for a pattern for a M & P 9 with a crimson trace so I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a mold for the crimson trace that can be used and moved to other molds when the need is there. Thanks Ron

well not really but sort of, I bought a 2 speed motor that was set up for polishing metal which is basically the same type of motor that cobra uses. The only difference between the one from cobra and the one I bought is the shaft size, the shaft on the one I bought is a little larger than the burnisher that cobra sells but I got it to work. The reason that I bought that motor was to be able to use a rubber wheel sander on one side that needs to run at 1750 or it will blow up the rubber wheel. So the motor for me performs 2 functions sanding and burnishing, but I also run a drill press burnisher. I had the drill press and found a custom wood worker in town and was able to get a couple of pieces of cocobolo then drilled it out stuck a long bolt through it then used a file to create to different size groves I wanted for burnishing. I will use both of and on depending what tool is performing what function at the time. Hope this helps a little.

without taking leather into consideration, I have been running a dehumidifier for the purpose of preventing my reloading equipment from rusting up. So now that there is leather and leather tools I have kept running it at the same level of dehumidification and the machine is set at 45 %. I really don't know what an appropriate level would be, but all my stuff is in the garage and I find myself emptying the bucket everyday, if you run an A/C unit and it runs constantly it is going to do the job for you. I don't have the luxury of running an A/C unit so I run one of those small units to accomplish what I am after, of course winter is a whole different story but I will continue to run the dehumidifier in the winter like I did last year. For those of us on the east coast or Midwest where it is real humid it is a completely different set of problems in comparison with those that are in say Arizona, Texas etc where humidity is low. I don't think I have helped much here but maybe food for thought how one person handles it. Ron
