  1. as an addendum to the above, one issue that I noticed and only because I was looking for it was the walking foot. It is leaving the imprint in the leather so I would like to know if there viable options to cure this without having a negative impact on the machine. One option that I did read about here on this site done by another member here was to grind down the serrations then polish smooth. Is this a viable option that will work without any degradation to the operation of the machine. Thanks in advance for all options. And what sayeth you Whiz?
  2. I am having the same question, I just got my machine running as well and don't like the marks that are being left on the leather by the walking foot. I read on another thread on this website that the person had ground down the serrations and then polished so that the marks were then minimalized. Is that about the only option or is there another option out there. Thanks
  3. I even bought the new motor from Bob, and after installing it and dialing in the bobbin and thread etc etc, I found that is a slight problem with the motor at the lowest speed. due to thickness of the leather ( almost the max) that I can do with this set up there is some stalling and hesitation to start sewing especially in reverse. So will a pulley reduction set up help cure that problem? I went with what Bob recommended for needles and thread size and happy with the selection, it is just the hesitation on start up and reverse at lowest setting that is of concern. Thanks to all who will chime in especially the Whiz.
  4. sorry for not seeing this sooner, I looked at that but did not think it would work I might have to relook at it again and see if modifying it will make it work. I like what the guy does I know some don't like his methodology but so be it.
  5. being this is still a fresh comment and along the same line, I am looing for a good source for the webbing to make tactical belts with, have found a few but am wondering if there are others? Thanks in advance.
  6. he isn't responding I sent an email and got an answer that way, but indicated that everything was sold. The buyer did post in another thread that it became a pain so do know what that meant.
  7. I would be interested in something like an old biplane or mustang fighter plane.
  8. its kind of late for me so please help me understand, did have to draw out for them what you wanted or do they have cataloged items, like the belt templates, I have been considering buying some thing like a laser cut belt templates as well as a few other items, so please help me understand a little more clearly. Thanks O n S
  9. Flitz is the way to go, it has very fine particles in it for polishing metal, plastic and other surfaces, I at one time had a one pound can but never thought I would use it again. I have been able to find it in small think catchup and mustard packs, type packaging, I took some and rubbed it in to a leather and use it for stropping and it works great.
  10. it is hard to tell from the photos but the bolt hole on the left front looks to be cracked is that in fact the case. And not being familiar with the splitter is the thickness adjustable on that, also where are you located.
  11. where I get my neats oil from originates in a 55 gallon drum, they then will bottle some of it in quart and gallon jugs to resell to other locals.
  12. I downloaded draft sight and will have to look some more, I didn't see where I could import and stretch a drawing sure hope I am wrong. But it didn't cost anything so!
  13. Thanks for the info will be looking at both
  14. I would like to know about the clicker as well, not just cost but was that a custom build or made by a company. Thanks
  15. the question I have about the above is, if being drawn with the right hand is there a problem with sweeping in the wrong direction? someone made one for me prior to my desire to start making them on my own and it was made with the gun right side up. Other than the fact that the person who made it did it as cheaply as possible it was a well thought out design.
  16. is it advisable to have a pen pad to work with these or are they easy to use while using a mouse? if a pen pad makes it easier to use which of the less expensive one's works the best. Thanks And to follow up on the above comment is there one that will work if you have some current patterns that you would like to scan in and modify? Thanks
  17. for an xd mod2 45any one have one and willing to share I would appreciate it. Thanks O n S note to the above it can be a taco style or the type with the 2 wings.
  18. do you for see doing any holster templates, and will they have the sew holes cut in to them as well? Thanks
  19. if you get a shipping cost to 37043 I'll pay that and an extra 20 bucks next weekend if that 'll work for you. O n S
  20. my need is to be able to have a usable replica at the cheapest means possible, and I know, I know, Cheap and good is an oxymoron, however I have a very limited budget well none actually, I am trying to get this going on a retirement budget to make a few extra bucks if that makes sense. SO trying to find a way to have something to work with so that I don't have to tell someone that, (If you bring me yours) I can make you what you want. I know for me that would be a turn off and want to look else where. just the ramblings of and old and slow retired guy with a bad back and from what I am told a high risk for another heart attack. O n S
  21. I watched a guy on a utube video today of a guy who showed how to make an aluminum gun out of a mold using foam board, he drew out a picture then taped it out on foam board put in a sand bucket then poured in molten aluminum, the molten aluminum took the place of the foam core and make the aluminum gun. My question is if anyone knows of a site where a person can go to print exact size images of different guns to be able to make aluminum guns in that manner. Thanks in advance. O n S
  22. I am not very happy with them either I made a hybrid for myself and ended up going that route, but I know I could have gone a different route after looking at some other posts. There are some injection molded being made now that offers a few more options, but would like to keep working on method to have leather straps incorporated and I have an idea just need to hold off till my sewing machine gets in or hand sew them due to thickness of the leather.
  23. Thanks, I have looked at their website I must have missed those, thanks again for the link. O n S
  24. Some might find it sacrilegious to mix the both, however, for many like it or not it is the way of the future for a lot of people so I have been on the hunt for someone that might already have a clicker die made to cut the leather, or if you know someone who sells them and I have not found them yet. I will be doing both the hybrid mix along with full leather and gun belts. I am sure that there will be a much steeper learning curve with full leather as I am just beginning to get into the process. I will be vacuum forming both the leather and kydex holsters in the production process, but if you know of anyone who can or already makes leather backers please let me know. Thanks O n S
  25. Itchy I just up the road a bit, in fact I had you make a holster a while back, when 1st came out with the high ride, but anyway I might be interested n some of the coasters send me a pm so we can talk. O n S
