  1. Yea, I checked Dennis' collection and didn't find anything like that, but I would mind a copy. He has allowed me to make personal use copies of items before. Since I don't run a business or charge, he gets it back from in sales. Plus, I started teaching the Basic carving class there with Jim. We usually get together for the our Saturday morning O.F.C. Coffee Club every week if you want to drop by. I am usually available on Sundays if you have some free time. I appreciate the response.
  2. Is Tan kote and Super Sheen the same? Does it accomplish the same objective. What about Neat-lac? I appreciate the lesson. Happy New Year's greeting from Round Rock, Texas
  3. Mr. ClayB I appreciate the lesson. Ms. Joanna, thanks for sharing with us. It looks amazing from start to finish. Greetings from Round Rock, Texas
  4. I appreciate the response. You are the second to mention the Texas Ranger Museum. I live about 1 1/2 hours away and I think I will make a trip this coming weekend. I will let you all know what I come up with after the visit. I appreciate the information and the picture. I hope you don't mind that I printed out the picture and now is hung up in my makeshift shop for reference.I love this site! great information..... Greetings from Round Rock, TexasSide note: I believe Troy West built the presidential saddle? I remember reading something about it. Anyways...just a tidbit.Oh I forgot, if you have those doodle pages and are willing to make copies for me, I will gladly pay for them.Greetings from Round Rock, Texas
  5. Adding more about Joanna's 'thread', I actually bidded on a book and pattern set on ebay before christmas titled something like 'Spanish floral carving' ? Anyways, I really wanted to have the pattern book just to admire the floral patterns and how they differ from the 5 discussed earlier. I lost the bid, it went way to high for me to admire, but a copy would have been just as good....old well. Greetings from Round Rock, Tx.
  6. C- I actually have a couple of photographs of a hairstylist pouch with multiple sissor holders. Send me an email and I will get those photographs to you. Maybe you can create a simplistic pattern for your use. Note: As for SissorsMedic's comments, I can vouch for him. He was the guild member I mentioned a month ago in a 'thread' about how he sharpened a couple of blades for me and to this day, they cut beautifully after appropriately stropping them, of course. S/M, we missed you at the last meeting, hope to see you next year. Greetings from Round Rock, Tx EM: KingsXAustin(at)sbcglobal(dot)net
  7. Thanks, J. It was great in person though. Greetings from Round Rock, Tx
  8. While vacationing in Dallas, Tx this past weekend, I forced the family to stop by the Tandy Leather Factory "Al Stohlman Leather Museum" in nearby Fort Worth. After finally finding it, it was well worth the trip. I happened to catch an ad in an old Leather Journal I took with me to read while the kids ice skated. Anyways, I thought that I would share a very "small" portion of the photographs that I took while at the museum. Thanks Tandy Leather Factory for such a wonderful exhibit. After seeing the exhibit, I knew that I was a newbie to this art, but I now feel "pre-historic." I hope everyone is having or had a wonderful Christmas. Greetings from Round Rock, Tx.
  9. I appreciate the pattern idea. Keep them coming. Greetings from Round Rock, Texas
  10. I am artisically challenged, but I think this would be a great idea. I believe or assume and you know what that does. Anyways, many crafts people here make a living drawing up and making these wonderful products out of leather. Sharing them is like Apple giving out their IPOD secrets to anyone. I know, apples to oranges, but to any small business owner, they are like "apple" to themselves and family. Anyways, giving up designs are like giving up secrets, some will not do it. I was in the company of a great belt maker this last Saturday just sitting in aw at his work. We were sitting at the very busy Tandy Leather Factory in Austin and he was working without letting anyone interrupt him. He answered questions as he went about his busy. He was will share any knowledge "verbally" to anyone guild member there until it came to his "tap-off" designs. The friendliness stopped there and he did not hestitate saying that he did not share his patterns. He explained that he has his own re-worked designs that his "customers" are accustom to and I cannot blame him. His belts go for $150 each and this particular week he was working on 8 belts. WOW I was grateful to WD for sharing his work and remedies on floral carving. I certainly changed some of my ways and will share them with my upcoming "western floral carving" course this coming weekend. I agreed with Ms. Tina to start posting some patterns and I plan on when I get around ot learning design more. For now, I will stick to patterns that I have found on the internet from the 40's-50's. I have a big collection and plan on continuing so if I can share something, let me know and I too will copy it for you. Greetings from Round Rock, Tx

December 9th 7:00pm Longhorn Trail Leather Guild Tandy Leather Factory Austin, Texas We will share some projects and having our regular meeting with a little project for the members.
