  8. Welcome to the forum and greetings from Central Texas, USA!
  9. If you get a chance....take a look at the "Leather Manual" by Al Stohlman regarding the use of the swivel knife. It might help you out a bit.
  10. I have to agree with Sylvia. I ordered a very simple but handy tool from them. It is a leather gauge to determine what ounce you are handling. For $5 bucks, it is worth the bench resource tool. Joyce is very nice to talk and it seems that she was a leathercrafter before some health issues got the better of her. I am considering some other templates from them. Consider them in them in the future for some great resource tools.
  11. Nice work Chris!
  12. Wow......what an opportunity!
  13. I would suggest contacting a member on here by the name of Bob Park who I believe worked for Porters. You can also try Richard Sherer, he has a website, but I am not sure of the location. He is on Facebook. He also worked at Porters. Good luck.
  14. Welcome back!
  15. Here is a little inlay practice piece that I did for my blog. The address below will be the beginning, but just click on 'newer' post to see the rest of the threads for the inlay project. I hope it helps you understand how it works. http://kingsxcustomleatherworks.blogspot.com/2012/01/practicing-applique-work.html Good luck

  18. Check out a product at Sheridan Outfitter's called "Quik Slik." It works very well, I was surprised when I tried it.
  19. Welcome to the forum......and have fun learning leathercraft!
  20. Have you considered making your own? I meant cost of the product plus shipping to NH? I have a friend who built his own and he has cut many shapes and hides on it. It is manual, but it works for his small shop. He has also allowed me to use it. It does give you a work out, but you will save some money. The main machine can be picked up at Habor Frieght or other outlets. Good luck in your search. Hydraulic_Cutting_Press_ShoeSchool.pdf
