This pouch is unique and one of a kind. The style and construction are great but most of all the wonderful carving of the wolf. The wolf really looks great! The style and color are excellent! Tack för att visa det, Storm -

Well I started out welding when I was about 14 and then after high school I went to Vietnam for 2 1/2 years. After that I worked as a engineering and architectural draftsman and did surveying on the side. After college I spent over 23 years as an architectural designer and illustrator and as a project manager in Saudia Arabia and the Philippines and worked severl times at the Mid-Pacific Missile Range on Kwajalein Atoll. My job carried me around the world. Guess I have been in every country in Asia with the exception of Mainland China and Burma(Myanmar). Yes I do speak several languages, as someone asked me earlier. Just something I like and love to do. Ialso guess it was because when I was in basic training being tested they said I had no apptitude for language. The stupid thing was that I already spoke two languages at that point. Got laid off several years ago and could never get back to Architecture. So I taught myself MAC computer systems and computer graphic design and up until 15 months ago I had worked at the LA Times. Did computer graphics and designed ads for them a bit over ten years. Been carving leather since about 1975 and it had put some money in the bank but never enough to payall the bills. None the less I love tooling leather and it helps me maintain a level of creativity.

Passport Case
Storm replied to Storm's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Hi Harvey, As I said when I posted it I was just hired to create the pattern, carve the piece and dye it. The client's daughter would finish it by hand lacing it. So I am afraid I don't know how it will end up looking. Sorry! Storm -
Belt Makers- I've Never Done This- Help Please

Even though I am not an ambassador I do speak a few languages. That's what comes from being an old man and having traveled and lived extensively overseas. I just think that it might make someone feel more welcome when someone speaks to them in a language that they may best understand. I hate wasting those things that have been given to me. HA! Storm -
First rate Bruce!! I too am betting that she's going to like it. Storm

I am going back a bit but I remember guys using a version of a thumb tack with two small holes which they called a Drawing Pin. They came with this little two pronged tool to pull up the pins. We used to use them mainly on maps created with india ink and starched linen. I am feelingso old! HA! Here is a quick illustration of what some would call a push pin. Storm

Cases For Electronic Cigarettes
Storm replied to arbalet12's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
They are a new age replacement for cigarettes. You get the taste and you even get the smoke but no tar or nicotine. You can actually plug them into your cigarette lighter in the car. They can come in hi, lo and no nicotine. -

spot on storm, by the way I was brought up to call the beam compass a trammel bar (Two peoples divided by a common language and all that) Beam or trammel, Potatoe or potahtoe, tomatoe or tomahtoe....HA! Although a length of string, a sharp lead pencil and a push pin or thumb tack(English translation inserted here please) should work quite well as a field expeient. Oh lord how luddite of me. LOL!!! I will PM you a funny true story. Storm

Before anyone has to shovel out their shop or warm up their ale.... I have come up with a visual aid which might do the trick. This does not preclude the idea Mike can stand a pint or two at the pub or Ray can fill us in on the Shropshire Slasher. Gin and lime for me thanks! LOL! All kidding aside I thought this might help. Hope its self explanitory enough. Cheers, Storm PS: If anyone has a problem downloading this the PM me with your private Email and we will do it that way.

Good one Mike! I was thinking about saying that one could use a beam compass but I was not sure if many would know what this old arhitectural designer was talking about. I have found a nice one on Amazon.com with extension for US$37.42. Granted a compass and a string is fine but these work great for making large arcs and circles. Storm

Belt Makers- I've Never Done This- Help Please
Storm replied to pete's topic in Patterns and Templates
Morning Pete, Been there done that. I have always thought that Tandy never got around to thinking the whole thing through. Their blanks are not as wide because they want them to fit their buckles and have subsequently not taken this into account when creating craftaids. There are several ways to go on this one. Remember to also ask the question ..."Why is it that hot dogs come in packages of eight and hot dog buns come in packages of six?" 1. Depending on the Craftaid you have bought it might be that you have one which has three different width sizes for the same pattern. See if the next smallest will work for you. 2. You can buy a 2" blank, as you said, and trim it down. But......First accurately measure the width of the pattern on your craftaid to double check its dimensions. Then subtract that from the 1 1/2" wide belt. Take that and divide by 2. This will give you the available width of your border. If that is good enough for you to work with then trim the 2" down to 1 1/2" and then use the craftaid. 3. This is more adventurous, so to speak, but I have gone to this extent. First I determine the border width I want to have, then I double it and subtract it from the overall belt width. This gives me a workable width in which my pattern will go. I will take the pattern or photocarve(in the case of a craftaid) and scan it into the computer. Once in the computer I will go into Photoshop and create a file which is to be the same dimensions for the carving area. Let's say 1 1/4" and make it 6" long. I will introduce the scanned pattern into the file. I will then use Command-T(I am using a MAC) and grabbing one of the corners and holding down the shift key reduce the pattern down to porportionately fit into the space of 1 1/4". Then crop off the excess and print it. For myself, I will then create a transfer pattern on three mil double matte mylar. This allows me to get a clean transfer and the ability to reuse the patterns many times. Hope that helped. Storm -
Only sick part is not having a Darwin Stubby in one hand and a plate full of crays in the other. And perhaps a good looking lady in the near vicinity! Good looking boy you've got there. Must take after his Mum! If I said different some might think me a bit of a puff. He looks like a chip off the old block. Storm

Thanx Bob, You know I really love the old style pattern. Gives it a real period feeling. Don't worry about the weather...there taint nothin ya can do about it except complain when it's not what you want. HA! Storm
