  1. Roger at RJF Leather has been my "Go To" Leather source. I could not be happier, have never had a bad piece from him. Tell him what your use is for and he will help you get the right stuff!
  2. I have been using Rogers Leather for a couple years. He is a great guy to work with and his leather is the most consistent and best I have found. Almost every square inch of the double shoulders are useable making the cost per square foot less than anyone's. The leather tools great!!
  3. Thank you! I needed to get started on an Avenger Style and this is a huge help!!
  4. Machine is no longer available. Thanks for looking!
  5. I have had great leather sent from Roger at RJF leather. The double shoulders (7/8oz) #1's are almost 100% usage. I stay about 1 inch from the edge just so there is no "fall off" in thickness or stretch. Tight grain, front and back (no fuzzies inside the holster) With shipping to AZ from NY it is still under $7.00ft. And he is great to deal with.

    Rjf Leather

Roger is great to deal with, all his leather is of fine quality. I have used his veg-tan sides, double backs, and double shoulders as well as his latigo.
  7. Very cool Gary! The PDF with all the assembly diagrams and info is really interesting. Thanks for posting it!
  8. I have ordered a new tree from them but I have had a tree repaired by them. Nice people and a great job. The saddle belongs to a friend and it is his favorite, over the years a couple colts had gone over backwards on it and it finally gave. He showed it to me and said "This has been soreing every horse I put it on". I noticed the swell brass pins coming out on one side, when I pushed on the bars you could see the swell move, not a good thing! lol! Good people to deal with and their trees look good to (I have seen them at leather shows. I hope to build on one soon! I don't mean to hijack your thread but here is some photos of the tree before and after repairs.
  9. Great List! Thanks for putting it together and Posting!!
  10. I leave it (rolled like it comes to us but not tied) and just cut a piece when I need it, with the smaller piece I "unroll) it by working it in the opposite direction and it flattens out nice. I have started using a plastic polymer material that I get from a "sign guy" that is in the same building as my shop. It comes in different thicknesses and is stiff but cuts great! Just score it and it snaps at the score line, even if it is a curved score line. A 4 X 8 sheet runs me about $10.00 I will try and find out the name of the stuff and post next week (Monday) I store it flat standing up behind my bench.
  11. It could be that the "Delam" is loose fiber leather, perhaps the piece was taken out of the hide close to the belly or neck areas. Tighter grain found closer to the Back Area or Rump will stay together, turn 90 degrees, and mold smooth. (Almost Always, lol!!) If using a double shoulder stay away from edges for the piece you know needs tight turns. JMHO, Keep on! they look good! Rick
  12. Shagey, It looks like you are off to a good start! Nice work so far. You asked for advice, all I can see at this point is to "smooth" the leather while wet molding. I see some wrinkles along the barrel in one photo. That can be fixed very easy while leather is still damp. Good work! Rick
  13. Hi All! I have a 29-4 for sale. I have not used it much and can use the space in the shop for a different tool. The machine has been serviced at Reichart here in Phoenix. It could use a little "Love" as far as cosmetics/paint. The stand appears to be the original Treadle Stand and all parts function. Photos show that it does sew and does do a pretty nice stitch I have 6 extra bobbins and a pkg of needles. The Leather belt could use some adjusting (tightening) The Machine is located in North Phoenix AZ. at my shop. I would prefer not to get involved in shipping, I would rather that you be local, or passing through Phoenix, or close enough to pick up. Price "picked up" at my shop $550.00 I am not interested in trades unless you have a Clicker Thanks for looking Rick 623 / 271 / 33O9
  14. No, He is pretty "old school" when it comes to communications
  15. Great job! There is a certain "feeling" you get when you stand back and look at a finished that is addictive! I always start another right away!
  16. Looks good Jack! Are you doing Gun Shows? or only selling online?
  17. I have never been a fan of the "Aussie" saddle but you have given it a whole new direction! I like that you incorporated some of the "Western" style that we in the U.S. are so familiar with and that by adding it you made the saddle more function-able and did not just add the western flair for the sake of adding it as a design feature. Super clean work! You have raised the bar for a "plain" saddle that certainly has a lot of style! Thanks for sharing
  18. Nice work on those! I like the dbl stitch. Makes a BOLD statement and looks classy!
  19. Hi Monica, I would like the Redhawk, Colt 1911, Springfield Armory Operator 1911 5' railed, Glock 17, & the 1911 magazines (Both of them) P.M. sent
  20. Very nice work! I like the individualism you put into your rigs. The " Native American" looking rig is my favorite (They are all excellent though!)
  21. Very CLEAN work!! I like the edge trim detail with the spots on it.
  22. Nice work and nice designs. I like the minimal leather style on the IWB and the snubby.
  23. Welcome to the forum! Be sure to post a few photos of what you make! We love to see new work!
  24. Nice job! I like the coloring and tooling on the second one (one with the axes/flag) What are they for?
