Hawk Scarbrough replied to flyingcuda's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
The customer is always right, but is often a cheap skinflint idiot. -
Ruger Vaquero Holster And Belt
Hawk Scarbrough replied to Otto6294's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Am I both impressed and embarassed. Fine work. I also favor Rugers and made a buscadero type holster set for my .45 acp/.45 lc. Not nearly as good as yours and I have more experience.....sigh. -
I haven't seen any motorcycle saddlebags online, sorry.

I can understand your problem. I am making a set of saddlebags for my power wheelchair, and believe me, there aren't any patterns for that........soooo, I designed my own.

I wish I had seen your excellent tutorial BEFORE I made my holster (left handed buscadero style) -

Wet Forming My Cowboy Fast Draw Holster
Hawk Scarbrough replied to bushpilotmexico's topic in How Do I Do That?
Excellent work, of course. I tend towards the buscadero type holster, although not historically correct I understand. Mine was simple because I needed something (left handed) for my Ruger .45 acp/.45 lc. I desined it from scratch to fit me. Not great, but it works for me. -
Wild Rose Holster
Hawk Scarbrough replied to Rohn's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
You do great work. I just finished a buscadero rig, left handed, for my favorite customer, me. Not in a class with yours...but I don't have to stick the .45 down my pants at least. -
I have told people to find a belt they own and measure that. Sometimes works, sometimes they **** that up.

My biggest problem is that I do a lot of very small oak leaves 1/4'' or less. I turned to some clay modeling tools (which I modified). I would welcome and suggestions on this.

When Do You Stop Cutting Yourself?
Hawk Scarbrough replied to Chief31794's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Very correct. Once made a good but unsuccessful try at cutting my thumb off with a circular saw. -
Minimum Thickness For Granite Slab?
Hawk Scarbrough replied to Artificial Intelligence's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
The thickness needed depends a lot on how hard you plan to hit it, and what's beneath it of course. You are sick. I like that in a person. -
When Do You Stop Cutting Yourself?
Hawk Scarbrough replied to Chief31794's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Been working leather since 1968. Still cutting me. Don't mind that so much as stabbing my self with a sewing awl or such. Well, my name is SCARbrough. -
Using Wrinkled And Marked Leather
Hawk Scarbrough replied to victorl's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Frankly, if you aren't carving or tooling it, distressed leather gives a piece great character. I'm saving one that has an S brand on it for something special for Self.
