  1. I'm guessing you know the Haight Ashbury section of Cali? Probably not from the 60's though...
  2. I gotta say, I love your style. It is very reminiscent of the late 60's indy comics, like the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.
  3. It seems to me, that they need to learn HOW to clean their leather, or at the very least, replace it with a new strap?
  4. BuckleGuy makes their own stuff with brass. Have you tried them yet?
  5. If it is sandwiched between two pieces of leather, and the leather is properly sealed, I'm thinking it would have to be drenched to be a problem?
  6. That is really cool, good for you! What kind of wood did you end up using? I didn't have any wood turners that I could find, so I had to DIY it. I took one of the dowels that they sent with my Blue Guns, chucked it in the drill, and put my knife to it. Not nearly that nice, but it works.
  7. I think the biggest difference, would be that veg tanned can be tooled. That is the main reason it is used.
  8. Cheater Mexican? I don't know, to be honest, but this is the route I usually go as well. But, I do it a bit different than how Matt explains it, I just make two small slits for the strap to slip through.
  9. @NVLeatherWorx- I am getting ready to order leather, and was thinking about stepping up and trying W&C. Are you saying that they have sent out bad leather, or that HO is as good or better? I have never tried either, but I am ready to try something besides Tandy.
  10. I can't testify how well it would last on a wallet, but I used rattlesnake on a leather vest once. It would start to dry out, and I would rub it down with mink oil paste. That kept it nice and supple for years. Not too long ago, I pulled it out of storage after 15 years. The snakeskin was dry and splitting.

Sorry to dig up an old post, but does anybody know if Roger taking credit cards yet?
  12. Maybe 8-10oz, for rifle slings.
  13. I wonder if that vinegar/water concoction would work on mold stains? I'll have to try it out, since nothing else has worked.
  14. You wouldn't happen to have any wider straps, would you? Looking for 2-3 inch wide by 4 foot.
  15. I don't think the last one is a sheath Mutt I will agree though, nice work Sir.
  16. Ha! We left Central Florida after 3 hurricanes did in our home in '05! Welcome!
  17. There was a chat feature? Why didn't anybody tell me???
  18. I'm not a fan of ordering things from China either. Usually, the price is good, but the quality isn't. I have a hard time justifying the expense of a maker's stamp, but would still like one. So, since I am a member of another board that has members who do forging and smelting, I reached out to them. I have the brass scrap, just needed somebody to smelt and pour it into a mold. Unfortunately, all they wanted to do, was tell me what to buy and how to do it. I explained it wasn't a hobby I wanted to get into for a one shot, since the cost of the set up would exceed the cost of buying the stamp outright... but, they couldn't get that.
  19. I asked him before, he said no. There is a fella in China that is ultra affordable though.
  20. Bad flashbacks for some If you were unable to get that mirror-like shine, there was usually one person in the barracks that would do it for a few bucks. I think that was how Elvis got through it. There were all sorts of opinions on how to do it, some involved first stripping the boot with alcohol, some said light the shoe polish until it melted, another was cottonballs or diapers, but water usually helped in most cases... and lots of elbow grease.
