  1. Tooling looks awesome! It has great depth to it! One thing you could do is take your beveler and go over the ridge made by the beveler the first time around to give it a smoother look (not a huge deal). The marks left by the pressure foot; was that because the leather was still wet or there was too much pressure from the foot or both? Don't mean to be picky here but did you miss beveling here? (No one would ever notice it anyways) Please post pics of the completed saddle! I'd love to see it! I'm going to build a saddle one of these days. Keep up the fantastic work! Respectively, -Ryan
  2. Thank you! This was just for practice but now I'm considering carving it out on leather just for fun and to see if it exposes any major mistakes.
  3. Hello, all! I am trying to draw my own patterns so my carving will custom fit on any project. Also, I want to learn how to draw my own patterns in order to be completely original. Here is my first attempt at drawing Sheridan free hand. I made the pattern up off the top of my head. Please feel free to critique.
  4. Looks really nice! Great... now I am inspired to get myself a nice pair of spurs just to make the straps. Thanks for the pics!
  5. Amazing! How did you get the color details so accurate? I would love to be able to do that!
  6. Ahh. Now I get it. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I will try something like that next time. Thank you!
  7. Thank you! I see what you mean. I think I will go lighter and maybe longer next time.
  8. WOW! That is very beautifully done! Keep up the great work!
  9. Thank you. That is helpful. I think in the future, I will do fewer cuts. (Part of the reason I did a lot of cuts was because I was having so much fun and I guess I got a little carried away. lol!)
  10. Thanks! I'm not quite sure what you mean by a flap.Do you have any pics?
  11. Looks great! Can I by any chance see a pic of them attached to spurs on boots? I love the color!
  12. A friend of mine ordered a minimalist wallet from me. He wanted it very simple and nothing fancy about it. As plain as it looks, it is quite functional, no bulk, and goes unnoticed in the pocket. Quite comfortable if you ask me. Let me know what you think! -Ryan
  13. I think those look awesome! What weight of leather did you use? On one of my next sheaths, I want to use my new barbed wire stamp for a border. Do the knives sit pretty tight in those sheaths? Nice work!
  14. Hello, leather workers! My saddle never really fit me that great because of a large build-up on the front of the seat. My farrier wants me to repair some of his saddles so I thought that I'd better start with my own. I took the old seat off and skived off a lot of the annoying bulk. I then put a new seat on (rough-out this time). The next few days I covered 21 miles with it and then lightly skived the top where I felt needed skiving. I also added 4 conchos with latigo lace and replaced the lace that holds the ends of the skirts. I am hoping that doing some saddle repair will help introduce myself into the saddle-making world. I am sorry to say I did not get a before pic. Please feel free to criticize. -Ryan
  15. Thanks, Harvey! Thank you! Yes, it is removable. Thank you! The leather I used was a 4-5 oz. veg tan belly.
  16. Hello again! My brother makes a lot of high-end pens and wanted me to try making a pouch for some of them. I took more time than I thought but turned out fairly well. Thanks for taking a look! -Ryan
  17. Thank you! I could have burnished and polished the edges but the time and effort would not have been worth it because it was supposed to be "on the rugged side" so I only put black Edge Kote on it. Thanks! You hit the nail on the head! haha that made me laugh!
  18. He really did like it. I tried to not "outshine" the knife but the guys at Tandy said I failed in that respect. lol!
  19. Thanks! Sorry, I wish I could but my friend has it now.
  20. Hey, guys! A friend of mine made a knife and asked me to make a sheath for it. The knife itself isn't that great mainly because it wasn't tempered but I probably couldn't do any better with a chunk of metal. I built the sheath for utility, not so much for looks because I know this guy is gonna use it and beat it up a lot. As non-fancy as it is, it will probably outlast the knife. Let me know what you think! Thanks for looking! -Ryan
  21. Looks awesome! Is that color a saddle tan antique? You also did great on the lacing. No way I could tell where you started and ended.
