  1. He really did like it. I tried to not "outshine" the knife but the guys at Tandy said I failed in that respect. lol!
  2. Thanks! Sorry, I wish I could but my friend has it now.
  3. Hey, guys! A friend of mine made a knife and asked me to make a sheath for it. The knife itself isn't that great mainly because it wasn't tempered but I probably couldn't do any better with a chunk of metal. I built the sheath for utility, not so much for looks because I know this guy is gonna use it and beat it up a lot. As non-fancy as it is, it will probably outlast the knife. Let me know what you think! Thanks for looking! -Ryan
  4. Looks awesome! Is that color a saddle tan antique? You also did great on the lacing. No way I could tell where you started and ended.
  5. Thank you! Sorry about that. They aren't very good pics. The first two pics were taken outside on the porch with a phone and the others were taken inside with a different phone. The real colors of the pockets and patches are actually black.
  6. Here are a pair of chaps I recently finished for my farrier. I made up the design and so far my farrier really likes them!
  7. Ok. Thank you for the info and the pics. That was helpful. As far as the tools, I have a belt sander and a buffing system (and jeweler's rouge). Is that enough to get by when I need to sharpen it? Thanks for your help! -Ryan
  8. Thanks. I just got it and it's pretty sharp as it is. However, would you just keep it sharp by stropping it with jeweler's rouge?
  9. Hello, everybody! Now I know this isn't much to show off, but I thought I'd show it anyway. I finally got an Al Stohlman head knife and made up a case for it. It's not a fancy showpiece, just a case to protect the blade. I didn't want to spend a lot of time making the edges pretty. Let me know what you think! Thanks for looking! -Ryan
  10. Thanks! The leather is an 8/9 oz. European single bend from Tandy (best leather I have ever tooled, dyed, etc.) It's very supple for the thickness. I used an airbrush to apply Eco-Flo briar brown and then sprayed it with Resolene. I also put a little antique in the crevices and marker dyed a few parts black. I just left the previous stamp in the leather to space the letters. I do need a jig eventually. Thank you!
  11. Hey, guys! Here is a recent product from my shop. A friend asked me to make him a journal with a custom design. Let me know what you think! -Ryan
  12. She got home today and was thrilled with it! She was even happier that it came with a clean house.
  13. Cool! How big is that?
  14. Thank you! I see you're from Tucson as well! Where in Tucson are you?
  15. Aw, I thought no one would catch that! Good call. I have already trimmed and burned the thread ends. There are a few other things I might want to fix that you haven't caught yet. Do you think I over did the dec cuts? Thank you!
  16. Thank you! It's the least I can do for her.
  17. I know. That's why I'm not selling it. Thanks!
  18. Thank you! The tooling was a lot of fun! Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it!
  19. Hello, everyone! My mom is on a trip so I decided to make a surprise for her when she gets back. This purse is from 6 oz. veg tan and lined with suede. The strap is 8 oz. I hand tooled all of it from a pattern in a book. It took me an estimated total of 30 hours from start to finish. Let me know what you think! (My mom hasn't seen this yet!)
  20. Looks great to me! The only thing I would have done differently would be to round off the edges with a beveler. I really like the color contrast with the stitching. I wouldn't change that at all. One thing's for sure, if I had made that I wouldn't let my dog wear it and scratch it all up! Good work!
  21. Cut it on the other side and then both sides of the other shoe so it looks deliberate. Show us pics of your finished second attempt (I hope it comes out nice!).
