  1. No matter which angle I look at him... he's still looking right at me! Fantastic work!
  2. That's great! Where are you in Arizona?
  3. Thank you very much! Yeah, sometimes I take my backgrounding a little too seriously and spend extra time trying to get it as perfect as I can even though it really doesn't make that big of a difference. But thanks for noticing! You made it worth it. I used the Craftool A 104 for all the backgrounding.
  4. Thank you, Scott! Thank you! I thank you for the compliment. I thank God for the gift. Thank you, sir! I appreciate it.
  5. I sanded the edges down to make sure everything was flush and the curves were smooth. Then I applied the dye to the edges and let them dry. I applied Gum Tragacanth and hand burnished the edges with a burnisher I made from a piece of deer antler. After it was smooth and dry I applied Supershene to seal it and give it a shine.
  6. Thanks, JD! If it's ok to ask... how old are you? Thank you very much! I thought about tooling the keeper as well but decided against it because I thought it might look too messy with the stitching. Thank you, sir! Thank you, I appreciate it. Leatherwork is the best hobby there is! Hi, Ger! Thank you! That is the leg tie. It keeps the holster from bouncing around when moving. It is braided leather but unfortunately, I discovered that it is synthetic and wears fast. So I'll probably replace it with the real deal. We'll see. Thank you very much! I don't think I will do this full-time but it will definitely be a side-job.
  7. Whoa... That would be so cool. I sure wish Al Stohlman was still around. I'll be sure to post the belt with the holster when it's done. I'm pretty busy this week but I MIGHT have it done by next week. Thankfully, I'm homeschooled and my summer classes only require about 2 hours of my day so I'm blessed to be able to do what I'm doing. As far as setting the bar... How is a guy going to get anywhere if he doesn't set the bar higher every time he reaches it? Thank you for the compliment! -Ryan
  8. Thank you, Monkey! I appreciate it!
  9. Thank you! I'm ready for a break!
  10. You'll never guess what I bought at Tandy for $20... I like it but it dulls SO fast. I have to sharpen it for every project and sometimes twice. I will be investing in a good head knife soon. Maybe a C.S. Osborne but not quite sure yet. A saddle making friend of mine had a custom head knife made for him and he let me try it out... I loved it so much but of coarse custom tools are a lot more expensive... so there's that.
  11. Thank you! Aw, come on, Jeff... Let's see it!
  12. Howdy folks! Just finished my second holster for a client. I still have to make the gun belt and fully tool it.... but I don't want to think about that right now. Tooling pattern is my own and the shape of the holster was copied off the original holster. There's still plenty of room for improvement but you know... I'll get there eventually. Let me know what you think! Comments/critique always welcome. Cool gun belt coming soon.... -Ryan
  13. Hi Bob, I agree. And the famous ones are famous because they committed suicide... well... sometimes. I live in the Drexel Heights area.
  14. Cool thread. I have artistic skills but I'm not an artist. I'm more of a "wanna-be-an-artist". Who knows... I'm still young... I have some time to get good and become famous!!! Get my autograph while it's cheap!!!
  15. I agree. Very outstanding! Ryan
  16. Hmmm... now there's an idea!
  17. LOL! But you actually do have a point. I didn't even think of the wind. Wow, I really do have a lot to learn... I agree with your wife. You should always stick with the product made by the leatherworker you trust MOST. I'm glad she likes it!
  18. Well with a belt that thick and a buckle that big... what could go wrong?
  19. Thanks, @Jack1970 ! I laughed so hard when I saw that pic! I cut out a football-shape piece of cardstock and then traced the outline on the leather with my stitching awl. I don't think I could make it that nice without a line to follow. I'm kinda skinny so that buckle doesn't get in the way that much. Otherwise it'd be on the shelf. @Matt S Anything I wear gets beat up and abused so I'll probably end up driving fence posts with it anyways. -Ryan
  20. Hahaha! Funny you say that. I was just talking to a friend and I told him it's a substitute for a trailer hitch. lol! Everyone needs this belt in the back of his truck so he's ready for anything. Thanks! -Ryan
  21. Hello, guys! So as a leatherworker, I thought I should be wearing a belt that I made... so I made one my style... thick. I used two pieces of 9 oz leather at 1.5 inches wide... do the math and you get an 18 oz thick belt. I glued the flesh sides together and then stitched it up so I have the smooth on both sides. It's like lining it with itself. It should last the rest of my life as well as my future kids and grandkids and so forth. It will also make a very good spanking strap. (Note: I did not make my dad one.) Comments/critique welcome. Oh, and before you ask, no, I didn't win the buckle. Thanks for looking! -Ryan
  22. Ah, Thanks! I like it! Looks like you have a good eye for detail. -Ryan
  23. Very stunning! I like the design and your stitching is fantastic as usual. My machine can't even stitch that good. Great job on it! -Ryan
  24. You've done it again, YinTx. Great work! I like that pattern on the BW stamp. Any chance we could get a close up of it? -Ryan
