  1. I have the CB4500 and it has sewn through 1" of stacked leather. The Enduro servo motor I got with it is cheap so I am upgrading to a better motor. The machine is great and so far I have not had any issues with it. I hear that the cobra machines are almost the same as the cowboy machines.I would have originally gotten a smaller machine but now I'm glad I got the 4500 because it can do heavier work that I had not intended on doing earlier when I got it. I like getting quality tools so I only have to get them once... just don't get something cheap and be the guy with ten machines and none working. Ryan
  2. Great work! Your machete sheath is fantastic and inspiring. The owl looks a bit nervous. Ryan
  3. Hey thanks, Joe! Always good to get a horse's opinion. Thanks and have fun with the seeder idea.
  4. You've got a point there. I do try to be generous, though. I work for smiles, thank yous, and peanuts. Lots of peanuts. When my costumers are more than happy with my work I feel like the richest man on earth... actually, I feel more like a swell guy if you know what I mean. If I were doing leather work for the money only... I would have quit as soon as I started and I'm sure most leather workers would say the same. Thank you! I appreciate it.
  5. Hi, Gary! I used fiebings tan antique paste and some usmc black die and super shene. I applied the finish to the horse before I did the paste so it would come out lighter than the rest of the wallet. I applied it with a small paintbrush. Thank you! Thank you! Thanks Bill! haha! Thanks! Thanks, Monkey! "Coming soon" as in coming to the forum soon. But you can still think of me as a swell guy... I don't mind. Of course if you want me to send you a pair I can do that too... then I'll be a RICH swell guy. Then I'll have enough money to donate to the forum and get my name in blue... ooooooooh
  6. Thank you! I used to draw a lot of horses in middle school and got pretty decent at shading. This is the first time I could do it with leather.
  7. Thanks, Plinker! ...pair of chaps coming soon!
  8. Looks great! I'm sure she will love it.
  9. That's beautiful! Amazing work! -Ryan
  10. Here is a recent creation of mine for a friend. She is moving away and asked if I could make her a billfold. She said if I could possibly carve a silhouette of a horse, that would be great... and of course when someone is easy to please and doesn't want you to go through a lot of trouble, it just makes you want to go all out on it. And I happen to know she really likes duns and buckskins. The veg tan is 4 oz belly and the lining is pigskin. It is machine stitched. I tried something new in my stamping by spacing my camouflage a little more and then adding a seeder dot in between them. I actually think it looks pretty good that way. Any questions? Comments/critique are always welcome. Thanks for looking! -Ryan
  11. No matter which angle I look at him... he's still looking right at me! Fantastic work!
  12. That's great! Where are you in Arizona?
  13. Thank you very much! Yeah, sometimes I take my backgrounding a little too seriously and spend extra time trying to get it as perfect as I can even though it really doesn't make that big of a difference. But thanks for noticing! You made it worth it. I used the Craftool A 104 for all the backgrounding.
  14. Thank you, Scott! Thank you! I thank you for the compliment. I thank God for the gift. Thank you, sir! I appreciate it.
  15. I sanded the edges down to make sure everything was flush and the curves were smooth. Then I applied the dye to the edges and let them dry. I applied Gum Tragacanth and hand burnished the edges with a burnisher I made from a piece of deer antler. After it was smooth and dry I applied Supershene to seal it and give it a shine.
  16. Thanks, JD! If it's ok to ask... how old are you? Thank you very much! I thought about tooling the keeper as well but decided against it because I thought it might look too messy with the stitching. Thank you, sir! Thank you, I appreciate it. Leatherwork is the best hobby there is! Hi, Ger! Thank you! That is the leg tie. It keeps the holster from bouncing around when moving. It is braided leather but unfortunately, I discovered that it is synthetic and wears fast. So I'll probably replace it with the real deal. We'll see. Thank you very much! I don't think I will do this full-time but it will definitely be a side-job.
  17. Whoa... That would be so cool. I sure wish Al Stohlman was still around. I'll be sure to post the belt with the holster when it's done. I'm pretty busy this week but I MIGHT have it done by next week. Thankfully, I'm homeschooled and my summer classes only require about 2 hours of my day so I'm blessed to be able to do what I'm doing. As far as setting the bar... How is a guy going to get anywhere if he doesn't set the bar higher every time he reaches it? Thank you for the compliment! -Ryan
  18. Thank you, Monkey! I appreciate it!
  19. Thank you! I'm ready for a break!
  20. You'll never guess what I bought at Tandy for $20... I like it but it dulls SO fast. I have to sharpen it for every project and sometimes twice. I will be investing in a good head knife soon. Maybe a C.S. Osborne but not quite sure yet. A saddle making friend of mine had a custom head knife made for him and he let me try it out... I loved it so much but of coarse custom tools are a lot more expensive... so there's that.
  21. Thank you! Aw, come on, Jeff... Let's see it!
  22. Howdy folks! Just finished my second holster for a client. I still have to make the gun belt and fully tool it.... but I don't want to think about that right now. Tooling pattern is my own and the shape of the holster was copied off the original holster. There's still plenty of room for improvement but you know... I'll get there eventually. Let me know what you think! Comments/critique always welcome. Cool gun belt coming soon.... -Ryan
