  1. Have to soak her leg in the lime solution with the cow skins to remove the hair. No biggy! lol
  2. Great buy! The feet are around 18 bucks plus shipping from Toledo Industrial Sewing machine 866-362-7397. Thread is 138 at the most with a 25 needle.
  3. Looks great! How did you cut it out?
  4. Looks great! We all are trying the same!
  5. I spent quite a bit of time surfing looking for a manual with know luck. One of us has to be able to come across one.
  6. I do not know much about household machines. My advise would be to get an industrial walking foot machine.
  7. Thanks for the nice pictures! That's a stout looking machine! I'm sure it will serve you well!
  8. Thanks Art. Someone painted the pore thing gray. There is black under the battleship color. Once I got the lower tension set, it sews really nice. It sews through 2 pieces of 12oz like butter and has a really great looking stitch. The flywheel is 14 inches in diameter. Wow! lol
  9. Luke, The 794 needles are about 1/4 shorter, and the Landis needles are about 1/4 longer than the 97x4 needles that are used in the 97-10 machine. So to keep the machine sewing an inch of leather I wanted to use the landis needles. If I dropped down to the 794 needles I can only sew 3/4 of material. That's all.
  10. Can we see a picture of this machine? I looked and looked, but cannot find one. Thanks!
  11. Well Luke I have 100 Landis one, number 26, needles for one. I know they are 2 something a piece, but these were free. I wanted this thing to keep sewing an inch. I wanted to use the 1000 H series needles, but I heard they are now discontinued. I may change my mind and go with the 794 needles because I just bought another machine that came with 1000 794 and 7x3 needles.
  12. Oh wow. Words can't describe the job you did on this.
  13. BillY, That was a very inspiring reply. Sometimes life just gets in the way and we take a lot for granite when things are good. Sometimes we need to stop and take a good look on how thankful we are for what we do have, how we got there, and how to keep it.
  14. This old machine has a 1 inch lift with the hand lift lever. Not sure about the foot lift as it is not hooked up yet. It is also set up for the 7x3 and 794 needle system.
  15. What do these machines sell for? Really can't find any info on it. Thanks!
  16. Thanks! My girlfriend named it Pita. Pain in the a$$. lol
  17. It is an 11-29. I just got it home a few minutes ago. It came with 1000 needles of various sizes for this machine, 1000 135x16 and 135x17 needles. 3 bobbins, 2 new feed dogs. It has a N.O.S. shuddle and race in it. It is on a new stand with a speed reducer and a 1725 1/2 hp motor. A really nice find!
  18. Tools, tools, tools and more tools!
  19. Here are a few of my leather working tools when I first got them and before I cleaned them up. The big machine is an edger that edges all 4 sides at once.
  20. It stitches very nicely. Here's a pic of it sewing 2 12oz pieces together with 277 top and bottom thread.
  21. I must be a glutton for punishment. I just bought another old huge Singer to play with. Why, why, why! lol Thanks!
  22. Did ya get your machine going yet? Let us know.
  23. I guess it maters what company brand of deglazer you are using. Weavers(Leather Coatings Inc.) and Angelus deglazer "are" denatured alcohol.
  24. Oh by the way, I am going to run Landis I needles in my machine. They are a little long, but they will work fine with a little modification. I just do not want to step down to a 794 needle.
  25. Thanks guys! It was a sweet challenge! I have rebuild a lot of machinery from robots, lathes, to CNC mills and the sewing machines are the most challenging. Well Mr. Peterson I would like to know the part number of the foot you would like. They are listed in the 97-10 parts manual. I am assuming a left and right foot. Once I have that I will get started on it for you.
