I use a repo'd grave stone. They are made up the street from me and some people wont pay and they take them back.

I would like a tutorial also. Thanks! She looks really good!

Hello, I would return them. There is no sense in charging that much for that kind of workmanship.

That is just beautiful! I would put it in a shadow box and hang it on the wall. Wow!

I would change the needle bar height to the more common 135x17, 135x16 needle system. Very easy to do.

Chestnut leather dye
ryano replied to ryano's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I had to thin the Angelus brick dye today with a little denatured alcohol to match another piece of Herman Oak Chestnut. The mixing ratio was 1:1. So the colors do very from hide to hide as to be expected. I just want to add that this is really great dye to work with. -

I ordered it from Angelus Shoe Polish Co. direct. 562.229.0521 -
Chestnut leather dye
ryano replied to ryano's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I found a match to Herman Oaks Chestnut leather. It is Angelus "Brick" leather dye. It matches perfectly to the hide that I have. For chestnut leather that has already been oiled, Angelus "Bismark Brown" leather dye is a perfect match. A word of caution when ordering from Angelus is this: A quart of dye is $9.25 and they charge you a $25.00 hazard shipment fee for a quart and above to ship UPS. A pint is $8.25 with no hazard fee. The thing to ask Angelus when ordering is if they can ship 2 pints of dye for the cost of a quart of dye. Angelus did this for me. Just a money saving tip for you all. -
You can get buy cheaper if you have a metal lathe. Also an old drill press base works great as the base for the riveter. This machine also has a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage over a riveter that does not use an l hinge.

Because it is naturally waterproof and stronger than steer hides.

Put the anvil in the freezer for about an hour or a little longer to shrink it and then press it in.

I misplaced my book for the part numbers. Will be continued. Sorry for the wait.

I have a couple of splitters, one American that I rebuilt and not sure about the other one although it is not a hand crank job, but a pull through. I find the American to work well, but is too narrow most of the time for the work I am doing. I need a band splitter. Go with a bigger one I say.

Ok. I will right them up and post them later today when I have more time to do so. It takes a little fabrication and welding. You can get buy without doing so, but it will cost a little more. Fun little project! lol

I use 277 upper and 207 lower threads and set the upper tension pretty darn tight. I also use a round point needle size 25. My machine is also set at 5 stitches per inch. Good luck! I edited this because I put down a leather needle for some reason and use a round needle.

What size spots are you wanting to set? I have a recipe to build a nice foot press for under 200 bucks.

Lowes has it and most hardware stores carry it. It is it the tool section. Ryobi brand is a dollar for 4 ozs.
