I just purchased a 97-10 and am going to pick it up on Tuesday. It is on the original power stand. No. 27 needles are still made for these machines. The only conversion needed for the 794 needle system is lowering the needle bar. Which will still sew 3/4 inch material. We will see how it does. Machine and stand weighs 650 lbs.

Tazz looks great. An idea for you if you don't already know; What I do for the upper straps is use a bag punch the same size of the strap and punch 2 holes, stick the upper strap through the holes and then rivet them. No chance of them rolling over that way with age. Just an idea.

There are vids on youtube for this. Good luck!

Des, I know it hard going through what you are going through. Take time to think on what you really need to do. Do not act on sporadic judgments at this time. Some positives are that you are living with your parents and will not become homeless of losing your house. They will not allow you to become hungry. You will find a better job! School loans can be wavered, all you have to do is ask. You will need to keep busy and capitalize on the time that you now have. Just be glad you have a place to hang your hat. Start taking short walks to get a little exercise, this will help with depression. You will be ok! Hang tough!

Hello! 69 nylon is great for patches and will work in both your machines.

A picture would help a lot. Thanks

Oh, I was wondering about that. Boy you would have to punch a whole lot of holes to pay that money back. It looks to be a well built machine from looking at it in person. I drive a local Amish harness maker to Weavers once a month.

Hello, I had a neat project last week, I rebuilt my Singer 211G166 and converted it to a large bobbin machine. I used the Juki 563 hook, bobbin case, bobbin case opener bar holder and the 563 take up lever. It is not quite a bolt in conversion. I had to mill all face surfaces down .100 on the saddle and also remove .100 off the right side of the saddle mounting boss to be able to move the hook further away from the needle. Fun little project. I just did it because I needed to replace my hook anyways. Any and all questions are welcome. Thanks!

Which one? Buy american, it is well worth it! The Osborne is well worth the money compared to the import.

Thanks for the great pattern! -
It will not pick up while trying to sew? I have never tried to pick up the thread while threading my machine, I just pulled the thread through the bottom hole. Also make sure the plate above the bobbin is facing the correct way, counter bore above the bobbin. Also oil the bobbin gears well. The needle may be too far away from the bobbin. This is adjusted by the screw above the needle screw. The needle should be as close to the bobbin hook as possible without hitting it. One other thing, use only 29x4 needles for leather and 29x4 needles for cloth.

I just use canvas and glycerin saddle soap. The easiest way that I have found.

Applying metal spots with spot setter tool?
ryano replied to RunningRoan's topic in Hardware and Accessories
Actually our presses are quite different. I cannot make the diamond spot holder because I do not have access to an EDM machine anymore. This Amish fellow might be able to help you out though. Write him a letter explaining what you need. Good luck! Bylers Custom Leather Machinery 11558 North East Rd. Conewango, NY 14726 -
