Most places like that are more than happy to have some one come by and get what they want, because they have to pay by weight to dispose of the scrap.... Monument places and what not too... then you have places like where I got mine, they neatly stack the larger scrap out back and sit on it... I pulled in and the sales guy who came out to greet me showed me a piece that was about 3x2.... when i asked him how much (expecting him to say 100 or so) he asked if I needed the three rough edges rounded and smoothed, when I told him NO, he said 10 dollars... I could not pull the $10 out of my pocket fast enough.... LOL. He even picked it up and put it in my truck for me...

I had a lady contact me via my site, and she wanted me to make her identical collars in different colors. I priced them to her and she was happy with the price... They were plain with spikes, a D ring in the front and the rear and a buckle. she got them and was happy with them. happy enough to send me a blurry pic of her wearing one. Also happy enough to tell a friend of hers in another state about me. He contacts me and wants me to make an elaborate collar for him with carvings and 3inch spikes, and lacing, and this and that... i price it for him and it was over $200 just in materials and time. He about sh*t himself and I asked him how much he was expecting to pay for a custom piece such as he was wanting. his answer made me about sh*t: $35 including shipping. I tried to explain that the cost of the materials he wanted and the time to do everything and the carvings and what not thee was absolutely no way I could make one for him for $35 shipping included. Havent heard back from him since.....

are there other places where I can buy leathercraft supplies?
wolvenstien replied to Hilly's topic in Suppliers
I have not really done much business with anyone outside of my local Tandy... so this might sound one sided... but I have been on this board with Clay for a while and if I had to phone in an order, i would phone it into him and have him and his store send it out to me. He is good people and he will do what it takes and what he is able to do to correct something and keep the customer happy. -
Dude... you are a freak... and that freakin pops.... way too sweet... that would look awesome on a motorcycle seat...

Ok, I have a drivers backrest cover on its way so once it gets here I will be able to get pix of it. Anyone want to help me out with original art meant specifically for my bike? -

ok, here are pix.... I dont have the specs on the drivers back rest... I ordered it, and asked them not to sew up the cover so i could use it as a pattern, and I just opened the box and have no clue what what is.... I have to call then and get a sewn up cover to match all these peices up with and then i will know what is what... I am guessing it is the peice that is about 10x10 inch... -

can we get this thread moved to a section that does not require mod approval for every post? It is very hard to converse when you have to wait for your post to be approved and you dont know if there are other posts also waiting to be approved that cover what you have just posted or what... Thanks -

Sorry guys, I guess I didnt explain myself well enough. I am not looking for existing art. I am funny about existing art on my person, and on personal things. Not to say that these places you guys have posted do not have some cool art, they do. However, I am looking for a theme of art all in the same hand and done with the intention of being created to be carved onto my bike. I will get a few pix of my seats and the back rests and post em along with measurements abit later today or this evening. I have another thread for a briefcase that i need to post pix in too but my wife has had the camera at work so i havent been able to make any pix... I made her bring it home this weekend and I will make these pix today. -
very nice... the leaves look great and the nuts too

Or Wolves... I can always redo the tank bib to have a wolf on it... -
I am looking to redo my seat, passenger seat, and both back rests on my motorcycle. I have been dragon my feet on this because I am not an artist and do not have the creative ability to come up with a cool theme. I want it all to be the same, and to be something I will be happy to have on my bike and not want to hide it when i go out and other riders see it... LOL... I have a nice carving of a dragons head (that I stole from another leather guy, thanks Mike) and am thinking I would like to make the theme to be dragons. Have four different dragons one on the main seat, one matching but different on the main back rest, and another on the passenger seat with matching scene/or whatever on the passenger back rest. If you are interested in drawing up some dragons for me to carve on my bike leather, let me know. We can work something out, and if you need measurements for the areas that i want to carve, I can provide them as well. Thanks Mike

My father in law has a tan leather briefcase that he has had for years. The front and back of it have gotten stained and in parts look darker brown. I will get pix and post em tonight. I am curious as how to strip this and get it back to the same color all over, preferably all Tan, but darker if it has to be. What should I use and how should I use it? Thanks

cleaning a glue pot

I have had the same issue.... Leather weld is water soluble.... or so I believe.... it gets too thick from sitting and I will add a little watter, use the brush to move it around and mix it and it is good to go... I have wondered too about cleaning out the put... the Tandy catalog says it is coated in Teflon for easy clean up.... not so easy since you cannot get into the thing to clean it.... I have considered getting a large bottle of elmers glue and emptying it out and putting the leather weld into it... It seems it would be a much easier way to apply it then the brush.... if anyone knows of an easy way to clean the pot... please tell us... Thanks -
the number of gun and knife accessories

the idea that Australia has always been gun less is mind boggling. Australia started as a prison colony for England. Then when it was realized that Australia was good land and the rich could get richer they started to move in and kill off the Aborigine natives and even went as far as to hire out the dirty work to Americans looking for work and adventure. The history of Australia is in ways much the same as it was for America.... Just that America is much bigger, broke away from England, and opened its ports to all.... I think when you say that they banned guns you mean to say hand guns, not all guns (and if I am wrong, please correct me) as in the states here, they have been working on banning hand guns for a long time, but the rifles and shot guns have always been safe.... but if they ban hand guns we know what is next on the list.... As they have banned ownership of certain types of automatic guns already.... I have always had guns. When I go camping I take my guns and knives with me... I do not go camping where border patrol is chasing after people of anything like that... but I have come close to bears before, as well as other wild life... I do not hunt any longer, but when I did, I was taught to eat when i kill, and only kill what I intend to eat. No sport hunting. If it comes down to it, i will pull the trigger on another man if I truly feel my life is in danger, but I would much rather beat him with my bare hands. But thats just me. Something I have trained to do since I was 8 or 9 years old. As far as government goes.... I dont hate my government, It is the people who run my government I do not like or trust. I support my troops even though I do not agree in what they are doing, they are following the orders of the people who run things, and they have no choice... Our country and government has grown too large for a militia to raise up and make any changes... this is why we have idiots like Nickles and what not setting off bombs because they understand that gov'ment is too large, but they go about making change in the wrong ways.... The Movie "RED DAWN" was my all time favorite when i was growing up through the 80s.... but not the reason I have guns... maybe the reason I have a compound bow.... but not guns... LOL -

I think if we put the criminal aspect into prospective, and look at it like this.... We here in the US (I cannot speak for other countries) remove our criminals and place them all together. While they are in these prisons, they are still able to get guns. They get any weapon they can afford and when they cannot afford a gun or something else, they make their own weapons. These are used for both protection and offensive purposes. I have see guns and other weapons in prisons. Now these people have been taken out of society and there not a gun store around the corner, but they are still able to get them. If our society bans weapons form the general public, they will not be banning them from the people who truly want to have them. And to be totally honest, if they were to be banned, I would still own and keep mine, and maybe continue to have my collection grow. If I want to kill someone, all banning guns and knives does is take the convenience away from me. I can use anything else including my bare hands to do it. The only thing taking the convenience away does is allow some "passion" murders time to cool off while they are looking for a means of committing the murder.... But then again, most crimes of passion are done using something at hand, a frying pan, a lamp, a push down the stairs, driving a car off a bridge..... As for suicides with firearms.... again, an act of passion for the most part, and the convenience of the gun is all it is... most people who commit suicide with a gun did not just go out to purchase the gun for this occasion.... they already owned it or had access to it. Other wise they would use a different method.... like illegal pills and booze, or a rope, or toaster in the tub or whatever they see as not being too scary. Just my 2cents.... And not to flame or bash you Roo, I have friends who have never been around firearms and have been raised to have the same views as you.... kind of reminds me of the prudes I grew up around with their views on sex and people of color.... Its just that they know no better... -
Nope.... not UPS... tell him you will ship by DHL only with him paying for it.... They (Nigerians) cant scam DHL like they do FedEx and UPS for some reason.... You accept Credit only when you get 100% of the info on the card and billing info and only ship to the billing addy.... then call the 800 number on the back of the card, and then look up the number of the bank and call the number you look up and see if they tell you the same thing.... see below.... There is a great site to go to and check out about these idiots: www.thescambaiter.com/forum/ You will learn alot about the tactics the scammers use as well as get a few good laughs at the scammers getting scammed.... I used to participate on the site quite abit and baited several nigerian scammers... Was fun... but I lost interest in it... I had one scammer going about a room for rent and "she" wanted to send me first months, last months rents, A hefty deposit, and extra to send back to "her" to cover her moving expenses. She sent me like $8000 in forged money orders, and when I called the number on the back the person who answered verified that the MO's were legit for the amount they were printed for... I then looked up the bank they were writen on and they didnt even issue MO's int he serial number these were writen for... Was quite funny when I told her I cashed then but my crack head wife took the money and ran off with the plumber.... LOL Dragged it out for a few months...
