  1. I think they are both totally awesome.... I do not do whips/reins.... but would love to learn how... what/how did you learn? Book? Someone taught you? Self taught without instruction? I would love to be able to make singe tail whips and be able to cover my round handles and make the knots on the ends of them like that.....
  2. cool, that one works, thanks Billy
  3. Billy, page says: Sorry, the page you requested was not found.

  5. Jordan, I totally agree with you. And me being the type of personality that has a very tough time learning from text, the older "less modern" books are extremely hard for me to get through, much less learn from. I have borrowed several books from my library, but everything they have was 1970 or older, and nothing pertaining to carving or anything that I am really interested in learning anyway. All mention of tools for the most part are of tools that have been updated and replaced with newer tools and such. I will take your recommendation and seek out this book. Thanks
  6. The way it is worded, I still get it confused today... you would think the "grain" side would be the grainy rough side and the "flesh" side would be the smooth as skin side.... But nothing is that easy.....
  7. cant get a close enough look but is that the tandy motorcycle chain going around it as a border?
  8. thank you Dave.
  9. LOL, all good answers... I just did this myself for a project I am working on... i cannot see paying $30+ for a leather rougher... I use my slanted 4 prong lace chisel/punch. it roughs up the leather nice and I get a good surface that bonds nicely....
  10. wow, I cant imagine having a 4 inch strap for my guitar..... looks nice....
  11. cut a piece off.... and play with it... see if you can make it darker.... I dont know about dying latigo.... might take... might not.... but post your findings....
  12. DC this is just what I needed for the project I am working on, however you left out an important factor..... how far apart do you drill the holes? Thanks
  13. Welcome to the forum! the best place on the net for your leather fix.....
  14. I like the elegance of the plain one too.... when i saw it, I immediately thought to myself... maybe I should go with an elegant look for my seats when i redo them..... The white lace job you did on the plain one.... what is that? is that the Mexican basket weave? Did you lace the white through the brown or through the same holes the brown was laced through?
  15. I bet that crop leaves a pretty welt..... Nice work
  16. very nice. love the backgrounding and the all around design. I made one a while back and had to add straps with buckles.... I could not imagine how anyone could lace one up one handed....
  17. Thats what I thought.... but wanted to be sure by asking.... Thanks Johanna and HorseHair
  18. I am looking for an explanation of the groups. I see MEMBER, and CONTRIBUTING MEMBER are used mainly so i am wondering what separates the two? I would assume that a Contributing Member was someone who Contributed to the site via knowledge, but I see new members with only one post as contributing members so that cannot be it.... Thanks Wolvie
  19. LOL, Happy birthday to you bro!
