Ok, for some reason this keeps saying that I did not select an image to upload.... Here are the pix... Ok, so tell me what you think... Some of the tools are missing the plating in parts, some on the tooling part, some on the handles.... Also, many of these were taped together with duct tape and have residue from the tape left on them, and others are kind of marred up from being packed away and then unpacked and repacked and shipped to me... can these be repaired or no? I have a plating shop here local... I dont know if they would re-plate the tools for me or not.... can I use the electrolysis method to chrome plate these again?

ok, no problem.... just give me a few days to get em together.....

Ok, sorry for not posting back sooner, and sorry for not posting the pix I said I would. Since i posted, i have been working 16 hours aday nonstop. I have not had time to think much less anything else. I like the electrolysis method, but I have a few questions... You say a battery charger... I am assuming you mean a 12v car battery charger that doesnt have the electronic built into it to detect when it is charged or to check if the battery is bad or shorted.... I have an old one like this... but it is variable voltage, and amperage.... what do you suggest the settings be to do this in say a 5 gallon bucket? These tools are the chrome plated hand stamping tools, do I need to do anything to prep them for electrolysis? will this harm the plating? I hit it with the wire wheel it would tend to harm the plating that is on it right? Again... when I get a few minutes, I will post pix. Thanks gurus...

I recently came into a large set of neglected tools. From what I was told these tools are 25-30 years old and have been sitting in a corner for about as long. Most are rusted and discolored. I will get pix in a few days of some of them when I am not so busy with work. When you come across tools like this, are they toast? Or can they be cleaned up and made usable again? Thanks Wolvie

Congrats bro! I am happy for you, and will make it a point to go out and buy this copy and tell my riding friends to buy it too.... Am reposting this on several Biking groups I am a part of..... Wolvie

There is a guy on the board here (dont remember whom, so forgive me) who did a wallet and all the "dying" was done with sharpies.... it was so nice, I went out and bought several sharpies and use them for fine detail work when I am too afraid to get a brush in..... Works great and they come in so many colors.... it is perminant and dont think there would be much fading especially when sealed....

Well there you go.... We will have to make plans if you arent riding up with the students and back with them.....

I was about to ask what Grey asked.... did you oil it or wet it before tooling it? didnt think latigo would tool....

You are going to have to break out the trusty air brush since you are show boating... I am jealous and you are going to have to make one of the wolves for me..... I will even ride down to get it.... LOL Where did you get the Harley Orange? Or is that Tennessee orange? -
Matthew, you gotta get up here next friday for Night Fall.... its the last of the year and we can sit up there and BS and listen to some music.... and even drink an over priced beer....

Wow... very cool. -
TimberWolf, Very nice place... and not overly expensive on the bikes... reasonable prices on what I was looking at.... even had a 1999 Maggie in there with windshield, forward controls with floor boards, locking hard bags, after market seats with sissy bar.... the only thing that is lacking (and wont fit because of the forward controls) is the engine crash bars and accessory leather... LOL. Thanks for the tip on the place....

You know Matthew.... I know of two others in this area that own Maggies, but there is no way they would part with them.... I will be more than happy to keep my eyes open and let you know if I come across anything....

No one was trying to be rude or anything, we were just trying to get answers and find out a cost to compare to.... but no reply....

Not to step on JWU's toes.... but the issue of engine size doesnt matter if you get the right bike.... I know nothing about Crotch Rockets... other than how to kill yourself.... and I am sure that is not something you are looking to do.... Out off all the bikes I have played with.... my favorite is the Honda Magna..... They made three generations of them... and they are by far the best riding and mechanically sound bikes when taken care of. They are all 4 cylinder engines and come in three sizes the V35 (700cc), V45 (750cc) and the V65 (1100cc).... the older V45 and V65 would put a whoopin on any cruiser/touring bike out there.... especially the Hardleys.... (hardley have any balls).... The third Generation Magna only came in the V45.... but it is a monster.... and is styled like the modern cruisers.... believe the year ranges are: 1st Generation 1982-1986 2nd Generation 1987-1988 3rd Generation 1994-2003 The Magna 3rd Gan can be bought for less than $5000 and you will get a great deal on your insurance even though it is a monster..... Is an all around great bike.... great for taking it into the mountains... Have taken mine to Deals Gap three times, and into the Blue Ridge Mountains (which is much better than Deals Gap IMO) countless times, and is awesome in the straights too.... Fuel milage on mine at the moment isnt the best because I need to replace my air filter.... I get around 40 mpg, whereas if it were clean I would get about 48-55.... Here is a pic of a 1999 Maggie.... And here are a few links to some great info on them.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Magna http://www.magnariders.com/ http://www.v4hondabbs.com/ http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/magnamotorcycles/ http://www.magnaownersoftexas.org/main.htm If you need anything else to get swayed to a Maggie.... hollor at me.... LOL

Beautiful work. I love the braided shoulder strap on the second one you posted. I truly wish I could learn to braid like that. What do you sell a purse like that for?

Very cool.... I was thinking of making a pair for my wife but was thinking of using the single thickness and cutting the heal to make the straps... I like yours... does the rivet in the toe bother you any? -
Making the tool bag is simple.... the only thing is getting the straps correct for the mount... I suggest you wait until you can get measurements from his new Triumph.... Or go to the triumph site and search their pix for a food closeup to see how it would mount.... Are you intending for this to mount to the forks below the headlights? From the looks of it, you would have to mount to the fork tubes above the stabilizer. Also.... He might be getting the light bar attachment that would allow you to mount the bag to the light bar like I did on my Maggie...
-
Very nice.... how much money did you spend on materials for it?

I used to have it on 8trak....

I would end up going to prison.... I hate dealing with the "upper elite".....
