  1. Thats a beautiful piece of work. Yes people haven't a clue what goes into leather work.. I've sold a couple of my knife sheaths 4 $24 and people think thats a lot for a little knife sheath. They don't look at the 3 hours of labor, the leather, the thread, the snaps and the Paypal and ebay fee's. plus the design time on the computer and engraving machine costs. I think I'm in the hole when all is said and done. I think most of us here do it because we love making stuff.
  2. do you have any pictures of the holster so we can really see your fine work?
  3. Took some of the advice given 1. Moved the snap hole in some 2. Made the holes with an awl, there smaller and closer together . 3. Put in a stitching groove thread lays in . 4. Made the Indian head a little smaller ( could go a little bit more ) Finished the edges 2 coat brown edge kote, and gave it 2 thin coats of diluted mop and glow.
  4. yes I'll move the snap on the next one and make my holes with an awl.
  5. Misplaced the Indian skull , little to high on the flap. Making another , maybe someone will want his one at a discount or I keep it for me LOL damm I have a lot for me LOL, yea I didn't finish the edges but I will if someone wants it.
  6. Wow I think it has a great distressed look. I know thats not what you were going for , it it looks great as it is.Take a lighter and burn the hair off the edges then give a quik burnish with water or something of your choice. But hey all in all I like it. Great first project.

  13. You probably go to the one on Greenway, I've had a couple problems there. I now use mostly SLC
  14. Yes they are bigger then tread . What I do is only cut the holes on the main piece of leather. Then glue them together and then use my dremel with a small bit to drill thru both pieces, that way the holes always line up perfectly , and hand sew it ,I think it gives it a unique look,
  15. I use 5 to 6oz veg tan. I design to pattern in Corel Draw including the stitch holes then engrave and cut it out on the laser.
  16. A friend wanted a front pocket wallet. I normally make these 2.5" wide but he wanted a 3" wide one, which I think is a little big but thats what he wanted. Also The leather had what seemed like a soft area in it and it kinda wrinkled after opening and closing it a few times. I wanted to make him a new one but he said it didn't bother him at all and he liked the wallet. The Ax Freedom Logo on the front is something he designed , I asked him if I could use it on other works and he said no problem, I kinda like that logo.
  17. has anyone tried wood stain on leather? Does it work.
  18. a laser engraver could probably make it
