  1. Looks like you are really enjoying it! Like @chuck123wapati said, that scrap leather is a gold mine for practicing your art. Very fine details!
  2. Really like the carving work on this. I may be odd man out, but my process is: NFO then dry casing tooling dyeing gluing sanding edges to make 'em even stitch burnish edges (this keeps the edges from getting too mushy when wet forming) wet form apply supersheen apply leather balm
  3. Not only are those great looking, but I also like how you have limited the color offering as well. Sometimes with customers, less is more.
  4. Love seeing your work! Amazing how quickly a project can come to fruition. Nice!
  5. As others have mentioned, very clean work. Well done.
  6. I like it. I have never seen Hair on inside a wallet. Interesting concept.
  7. Thanks for all your dedication to the craft and its legacy! Lots of good information. Thanks for being willing to share it with the masses!
  8. Pretty sharp! Hats off to our first responders!!
  9. Wow! Lots of work going on in your neck of the woods!
  10. One of the first ones I did was an old Bible. I used 5/6 oz. leather for it. I did some tooling on it as well. It is somewhere between a soft and hard cover.
  11. "That makes sense about dyeing the shield for black. I did burnish the edges to make it clean and last longer one thing I’m curious about is for other shields that are white or red for painting if there is ways to protect it better. " You could use Saddle-Lac spray lacquer. It's pricey, but lasts a long time.
  12. For the base (black) I would use a pro dye instead of paint. The dye penetrates the leather where the paint will sit on top of the leather. You can still use your paint gun for it too. I can't tell for sure, but it doesn't appear the edges have been burnished. This will also help protect the leather over time. By burnishing the edges, it will seal them to prevent moisture from intruding into the leather, and it gives the piece a nice finished look. Nice job on the shield. Especially like the concho.
  13. I started with Barge contact cement and have tried some other leather glues, but always come back to Barge. It is probably similar to weldwood, but I am gonna stay with Barge.
  14. Wow! Great work @chuck123wapati as always! Really like how you framed up the photos too. Is that a sharpening stone in the outer pocket?
  15. Nice bag! Can't beat an old workhorse like that machine. They sure don't make em like they used to.
  16. Pretty cool. laser cut?
  17. Those are nice too. Maybe I am old-fashioned and carry too much folding money, but that style seems to get bent out of shape for me. I really like the cantilever style of locking mechanism. But, that is probably why there are so many styles...one for each of us. Nice looking wallet BTW. I have never seen that style before.
  18. Pretty clever! I love seeing creative ideas to solve a problem. Looks like this solved yours.

  20. That's some good work there. Agreed...practice, practice, practice.
  21. Thanks for sharing your work. I agree, that style of clip can be kind of boring. I really like the type that attaches to the outside of the wallet. A suggestion i would make is for those pieces you sew together, cut one of the pieces a little larger, then after stitching, trim them down so they are even.
  22. Welcome from SW Missouri USA. That's pretty cool.
  23. Let me know what you find out on the Judge blue guns. May be interested.
