  1. Springfield Leather (SLC) is close by so I normally go there. When I don't want to make the drive, I order my needles from them and are delivered in several days.
  2. Welcome to the forum from SW Missouri. It seems that the folks doing patches on hats prefer the Richardson brand of trucker hat. Model 112. Looks like they can be had for $6 and up.
  3. Wow! Amazing work. I always liked his cameo appearances in the recent movies.
  4. I actually offer several different classes, each building on the one before. Classes are for ages 4 and up. My first class is 1.5 hours long. I have a box of show and tell items that include different types of leather, different tools used, varying projects I have made, then I have each one stamp a 4" round coaster. Each student has their own slab of marble, a hammer/maul, and an assortment of stamps. I teach them how to case a scrap piece of leather for them to practice stamping. This is two-fold, it lets them find the design stamp they like AND how hard to hit each stamp to get the proper impression. Once they have figured that out, they case their coaster and begin the leather crafting journey. Due to shop space constraints, class size is limited to 10 students and their folks. If you would like to discuss, please reach out. It is one of my passions. Here is the link to my site describing the classes if you would like more information: https://pastorbobleather.com/classes/
  5. I always err on the side of the customer. I have made new replacement holsters and sent them, telling them to keep the old one as a souvenir. I may not make a profit, but at least break even. The cost of goodwill is worth that to me. They say customers who are thrilled will tell about 6 folks about their experience. Those that are dissatisfied tell many more. Any more customer service sucks with almost every company you deal with. I want to remind folks what it used to be like when someone stands behind their product without the consumer having to buy an extra warranty or "insurance".
  6. Beautiful eagle. You could try using a modeling spoon or maybe just trim the piece so the marred area is in the scrap bin.
  7. Welcome from Southwest Missouri, USA. I think the method you describe will give you undesirable results. It would almost be worth buying a new piece at the thickness you need and saving this one for thicker jobs in the future. I have multiple rolls of leather, all different thicknesses.
  8. Sharp holster for a sharp firearm. CZ is my EDC. Love those things. I like how you contrasted the color of the leather with the blue grip.
  9. I got my first set from Tandy. It worked okay, but didn't seem very sturdy. Mine are all angled chisels. I have 3 different sets from Weaver with all different spacings. The one I use most is the 5mm. They are a little more, but I have not had to replace them. I also rub mine over a clump of beeswax as i am going.
  10. Good looking rigs!
  11. Great way to repurpose some leather. It is amazing how resilient leather can be. Keep us posted.
  12. I tried using edge paint. Even bought one of the manual rotary tools to apply it. I may have done 3 project with it, and like @Dwight, never got feedback from a customer that said they missed it when I didn't use it. I still have a couple bottles sitting on the back of the shelf, but typically just dye the edge, then slick it.
  13. Nice work, Indeed. Welcome from SW Missouri.
  14. SOO sorry I missed your earlier post. Praying for continued healing for your daughter. Glad they were able to get everything taken care of. Now the long process of healing. Praying over her for comfort and patience.
  15. Very sharp! Hat making isn't even on my radar. If I did make one, it would be identical to the one you did. Nice work!
  16. Welcome to the forum from SW Missouri. Look forward to seeing some of your FL inspired leatherwork.
  17. Nice job! I have a list of items I want to make for myself. Just keep getting buried in honey-do's, mowing, and other client's projects. I would like to make myself another rifle sling, a shotgun sling, and a Bible cover. Maybe one of these days.
  18. Best bear spray on the market. And you typically get 6 sprays before reloading. Nice looking holster there, @chuck123wapati
  19. Or if you have a GREAT way to exhaust the fumes, you could laser engrave it.
  20. I think that is a good rule of thumb, but it also depends on the size of the project and the design or additional carving as well. Also depends on how it is dyed too.
  21. just measure your current punch with calipers to get the dimensions. Or ask your die maker if they have made anything similar. They may already have something they have created for someone else.
  22. Pretty slick. I am always leery of cutting chrome tan on the laser. Fumes are really bad.
  23. Good looking holsters! Very sharp!
