  1. @Klara Yeah , it might not work but I have a girl with a head full of hair that will test it and see . I will be sure and post pass or fail .
  2. is what it would be called . Works good on my table swab , gonna give it to a girl I know that has enough hair to test it . 3 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide when open
  3. The only bevels I have are from starter tool kits , like most tools they will work just fine . The more you use them the more things you will find you can do with them . Some times you will have to tip a bevel and just use a small portion in tight places . The pic I posted was done with a Z-B 701 ......... came with a cheap starter kit . Like Fraulein said PRACTICE is all it takes .
  4. OUTSTANDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. While I don't claim to be very good at letters here is what I do. Choose the font and size you want Print what you want out ( resize if you need to ) Once I have it like I want I cover both front and back with packing tape Transfer to cased leather with ball end stylist , cut with swivel knife , bevel and do any other tooling you want The fancier the font the more difficult it is for me !!!!!!
  6. Great , sounds like you know what it's capable of . I worked with a gunsmith for about 3 years and that is where I found out about it ..
  7. Cotton wheel on a grinder and some of this compound . 240 may be as course as you want and I would finish up with 400 myself . You will find a 100 uses for it once you try it , the coarse grades cut pretty quick . https://www.brownells.com/tools-cleaning/paint-metal-prep/abrasives-polishing/polish-o-ray~/ Just noticed you don't have the grinder ........ sorry about that , Good luck
  8. That is nice work and might be just a tad fancy for a roofer .......................... and should last a very long time
  9. Very very NICELY done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. You are very welcome and I hope it might come in useful somewhere .
  11. @CJJ Thank you . @MarshalWill Thank you , it works well for small patterns . @Hags Thanks ! Good idea . using small ones for tools/parts ? @Fraulein I just use a straightedge the width I need ( 3/8 inch in this case ) to make the pattern size I want. There is no lay out other than the first 2 lines at 60 degrees ( that is just what I use ) , then I just move straightedge over for each cut. I could NOT get close to straight freehand with the awl
  12. Thank you ! Thank you very much ! While I have used a swivel knife for this small pattern it is much quicker and a it easier to use a stitching awl . It cuts nicely without worry of going too deep . Bigger patterns still get the swivel knife ,
  13. Just needed something to do so I have been playing around with these .
  14. I have never been able to get Red out of it , you may have better luck .
  15. Looks like you nailed it !!!
  16. Yeah right you are , I make 2 sizes ( real thick hair and not so thick hair ) and thinking about doing some smaller for little girls . Nice !!! I might be up to that much hand stitching , I may borrow this idea . Very nice Chuck !!!!
  17. Thanks ! I may just have to buy some bamboo skewers . Thank you ! I thought that "women's stuff " comment might draw some attention ...............
  18. but hey , it gives me something to do when other things are slow
  19. Nicely done and a very cool design !!!!
  20. Could just be the tip of a piece of barbed wire that broke off and healed over ..........
  21. Thanks guys !! I did not know about the flexible super glue but I think this will be my next move . I have cycled this one 200 times and it is holding , now that may be more than " fair " for the price I will get , I just would rather they not fail before they are old and ratty looking .
  22. My question : leather glued to metal and under both tension and then compression will hold up how well over time ? Can't really see a good way for a mechanical fastener , is there a better way ?
  23. @spurdude101 I know nothing about this company , never bought a thing from them . I found them on-line ...... UMX in California . May be junk but they do carry the large sizes . At first they look to be suppliers of manufactures but their web site reads like they sell small quantities also . Hope this helps but I don't know that it will . http://www.lanyardfactory.com/hooks/schematic/big-wide-push-latch-bolt-snaps-hm-G727.htm
  24. I seem to remember Federal selling cartridges in a similar carrier except it was an awful plastic thing and didn't really fully trap the cartridges . VERT NICELY done
