  1. I would not remove it. I don't think you would ever save it trying to remove it. I myself would just re-glue it the way it is.
  2. Looks good to me. Nice work. I guess I might have dyed the belt slots.
  3. Looks good. Nice work!
  4. Guys & gals I would like to buy a strap cutting machine. Just curious if any of you have seen or used the TandyPro manual strap cutter. I'm curious if I can get by with it for a few years. Or is it junk? Is there a better china/import brand option out there? Thanks. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
  5. I made a 1¾ lined & reinforced gun belt & used a product called Super Sheen on it. My buddy has been wearing it everyday for the past 2-3years & yet to have any problems with it. It is hand saddle stitched.
  6. Thanks. I appreciate it. I pretty sure I have seen some of your saddles & they are just beautiful.
  7. Thanks. Yeah I was looking at some rear flank billets from some higher end saddle makers. I was looking at their billets & @ them prices it is going to be hard to compete with their prices. Should I sew these billets together with 346 bonded polyester thread? Thanks.
  8. Thanks TomE. I appreciate your feedback. I'll check out Bruce's video. Yeah Don Gonzales had a good video on preparing Latigo saddle lace for tying billets on with. Guess I better get some more leather ordered. Thanks. I appreciate you helping a newbie.
  9. The other thing I'm curious about. What length of Latigo lace is used to tie your billets on with? I watched Don Gonzales video on tieing billets & it was real informative. Looks like he used a lace about 36" long & then cut the tails off when finished tied. Thanks.
  10. My buddy does a bunch of roping cattle & uses a breastplate/collar strap as well. I think that's what he called it. To me it looks like on the original billet/strap, they used 14-16oz saddle skirting & lined it with 6-7oz or 9-10oz Latigo. Should I just order a Herman oak 9-10oz Latigo side. I would like to make a new matching set of billets for him. What would be a good buddy price on something like this? I'm not new to leather working, I'm just new to the horse tack saddle stuff & the nomenclature of it. Thanks. I appreciate everyone's help.
  11. That looks real close. The billet that broke has a hoof pick pouch. Looks nice. I'm hoping mine turns out that nice. Thanks for sharing that billet. I like the gunslinger stitching.
  12. The cinch strap are 1¾ wide & 9mm thick on this particular saddle. If that helps any. Looks like 2 layers on the strap.
  13. Ok thanks. I got some stiff veg-tan saddle skirting & most other weights of veg-tan leather as well. What weight of Latigo side should I buy to line it with? I can purchase what I need. Do you got a recommendation? Thanks again for the help. It's much appreciated.
  14. Guys & gals I got a friend, who broke a rear cinch strap on his J&J Saddle. Well I elected myself to make a new one & got a couple questions. #1: what kind of leather is used in the cinch straps? Veg-tan? #2 do they use a reinforcement piece sandwiched in between the layers of leather where the strap adjustment holes are? Thanks. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
  15. Looks great! Nice work.
  16. Nice work. I can only imagine the obstacles you went thru to get your machine the way it is now.
  17. Don Gonzales has a good video of applying antique finish. I always do my lighter dye 1st, then I apply the antique gel. Then after antique gel drys I seal it with a sealer.
  18. Thanks TomE I appreciate your feedback. Basically you are saying the foot of the Cobra 26 has no problem navigating multiple layers/steps of the leather when sewing. Tom what is the cylinder arm diameter of the cobra 26 compared to a Class 441 cylinder arm? Thanks. Much appreciated.
  19. Welcome to the group. Bunch of great people here.
  20. Thanks Landcruzer for your feedback. Yeah I got a Cobra class 4 & purchased all of @Patrick1 narrow feed dogs & plates. While they work great & his work is top notch, I wanted a dedicated machine for lighter materials & jobs. I got tired of swapping everything, lol or i guess you could say lazy. So I thought the Cobra class 26 would fit the bill best for me. Thanks.
  21. Thanks. Bruce I appreciate your feedback. Yeah my cobra class 4 intimidate's me a bit. But I'm slowly getting over it. Have you had any timing issues with the cobra class 26? I'm just curious, as I've read a few things & watched a few videos with people having timing issues. I figured maybe it was operator error. Thanks.
  22. Guys & gals I'm looking to add another sewing machine to my arsenal of tools. I got a Cobra class 4 & while I can "dumb it down" for 138 thread & lighter materials. I would like to add another machine that can be setup for the lighter thread & materials. What's your thoughts on the Cobra class 26? Will the machine be happy for 138 thread? Is there other machines I should take a look at buying instead? I will be using this machine mostly for wallets & card holders, belts & such with the flatbed table top. Thanks. Any & all help greatly appreciated.
  23. Looks good. Nice work. Welcome to the group.
  24. I'll look thru my belt craftaid patterns & see if I have that one. I believe that's 1 of the patterns I could not find. But I'll look in the next day or 2.
