Just finished up this little surprise gift for a friend of ours. Thought I'd share. Slowly but surely getting better at sketching my own designs. And tooling tiny items... YinTx

After breaking three screens on his precious iPhone, hubby finally got a protective case. Which meant that he needed a new leather sleeve to fit the phone with the case. Used some great embossed calf (thanks @nstarleather!), 0.8mm tiger thread at 8 spi, and just burnished / waxed the edges (hubby doesn’t like edge paint).

Been trying to practice my stitching, so hubby got a new sleeve for his iPhone 7. Used some scrap Horween leather from nstarleather (thank you!), my new French model Knip knife (cheers, geargarcon), and 0.8mm Tiger thread. Still working on my edges sigh. Oh and thanks jlsleather - I can attest that the calculations from your holster pattern work the same for an iPhone in terms of distance for the stitch lines. Front and back shown below

I haven't posted in quite awhile, but wanted to show a little progress thanks to those I've conferred with here. Attached is a "steampunk" styled phone holster/wallet sized to fit an iPhone 6+. It's all hand cut, tooled and sewn out of veg-tanned 4-5 oz leather, and finished in tan gel antique. The front pocket is large enough to hold an ID, some cards and cash, so it's essentially a minimalist wallet one can wear on their belt. Thanks for looking, and thanks for your feedback!

Been searching for years and I finally found inlay Iphone cases at Tandy. What I have seen previously is taking a generic Ebay phone case and cutting leather to glue on top. the result of this however is a short-lasting case. Does anyone know of a supplier of the actual case for Iphones besides Tandy? Here is a link to what I've been looking for: http://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/iphone-6-inlay-case-kit-2 I would really like to keep my customer price around 20-30 and that is impossible with these kits Tandy has of course! Thanks for your time Derek KD Custom Leather Granbury, TX

Alright folks, I'm designing a line of fancy leather iphone / smart phone wallets and cases, and I'm trying to find out what brand and size is currently most common as the wallets will have a permanetly attatched phone cover within it. I will probably only make a short line as phones are always getting upgraded and sizes are always changing. Any advice would be great!

As my first post here, I wanted to show something I did for a commission just recently. I'm in the process of making several more just like these, and hopefully each will be better than the last. A co-worker has seen some of my past work, and wanted to know if I could make him a holster for his phone. He wanted a secure leather loop he could use while riding. Fast-forward a week or so and I had completed a working prototype to show him. This was made to fit my phone, an iPhone 5, which was a little taller than his. After some discussion, we settled on a design and I got to work. The finished product is more of a wallet that holds a phone, as it has a front pocket to hold several cards. I made it adjustable and dyed it a very dark brown, hard to see since I had just treated it with mink oil. This was my first time setting letters too, so after a few practice runs I *still* managed to get them slightly off. Although it has a few finish issues for my taste, he liked the "rough around the edges" look and is talking about commissioning me for more projects. Here's the finished product: I'm still learning but he seemed happy with it, which is all that matters to me. Thanks for looking and offering your suggestions!

I am wondering how you would sew the piece that contains the phone. how it is rounded over and then stitched. I can see how you would do the one side, but after that is done, how would you stitch the opposite side together? You cant see the bottom side, but I'm assuming it's done the same way. Thanks Zayne

First post here, I figured I'd show y'all my progress since starting this craft a few months ago. The wallet with 4 pockets is my first of that design and I've been using it myself since making it (3 months or so ago). Since then I've learned quite a bit more about finishing the edges and have a much better idea of what I'm doing with that. Still working on getting my stitching to look clean though. I'm using one of the 4 prong punches from Tandy and can't seem to get really consistent results on the thicker projects (like wallets). Anyway, thanks for looking!
