I am sad to share that RaySouth (Ray Dodge) has passed. Ray spent nearly 5 weeks in the hospital, he passed Tuesday July 25th. I considered him my closest "online" friend and pen pal. He was a kind soul, had many adventures in his lifetime with his wife, Mimi. He and I swapped stories and our lives over the last 4 years.

I know that many of you are able to say the same. He was a member of LeatherWorker for many years. He enjoyed collecting tools and trying new dyes and finishes.

Mimi wrote: " his last breath on earth was his first in heaven".  Ray always signed "God Bless".

Rest in Peace my friend!

Sad news indeed. Ray was a very helpful and considerate man who I am sure will be missed by many.

Thank You David for sharing this with all of us who met this good man online.

I didn't know Ray well. I only came to know him when he had to retire and let go of his leather hobby. He was a very generous man that gave many of us better than a fair shake. Rest in Peace, Mr. Dodge.

Ray was a beacon of inspiration for most who trek these forums and will be greatly missed.  My condolences go out to friends and family but we all can now rest easy knowing that when our time comes, Ray will be the leather god in heaven and we also know that the big man upstairs is finally getting some high-quality leather for his daily needs.  Rest in Peace Mr. Dodge and keep the benches ready for the rest of us.

I only knew him briefly, and as soon as I knew him, he immediately struck me as the type of person I would enjoy spending time with.  I sincerely wish I had met him much sooner.  My condolences to his family and friends as well.

In addition to leather Ray had a huge knowledge of pyrography which he shared freely. I have no doubt that Ray and Cheryl and Jazzman (who we lost last year) are all laughing and working away in the big leather shop in the sky

My condolences to the family and all his friends.

The earth is poorer when we lose a good one, . . . but Heaven is richer.

May God bless,

Dwight

RIP Ray. The first person that talked to me on the board. Had a nice conversation.
