Members scrapyarddog Posted December 15, 2021 Members Report Posted December 15, 2021 First time trying alligator, ordered an extra small piece and I think it turned out ok. I hope. Quote

Members PastorBob Posted December 15, 2021 Members Report Posted December 15, 2021 Very clean. With outcomes like that, i would order a larger piece and go into production. Well done. Quote
Members Tugadude Posted December 15, 2021 Members Report Posted December 15, 2021 Well I'd say it turned out! Very nice indeed. Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted December 15, 2021 CFM Report Posted December 15, 2021 that is so nice i would have to hang it on a string around my neck so everybody could see it. To nice to be hidden in a pocket. Quote
Members jonlrussell Posted December 15, 2021 Members Report Posted December 15, 2021 That's really sharp looking. I plan to do a wallet as my next project and now I'm tempted to do it in alligator lol. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted December 15, 2021 Contributing Member Report Posted December 15, 2021 looks good. is it RFID? Quote
RockyAussie Posted December 15, 2021 Report Posted December 15, 2021 Nice professional looking work, Congratulations. Quote
Members YinTx Posted December 16, 2021 Members Report Posted December 16, 2021 Oofah! That's sharp! Did you use anything on the back of the alligator, or just use it unlined? What weight was it? YinTx Quote
Members chrisash Posted December 16, 2021 Members Report Posted December 16, 2021 Excellent and so nice to see matching thread rather than contrast colour thread fighting for the attention of the leather Quote

Hey thanks, the extra small works well for this type of card wallets, and I actually made an offer to buy 50 skins but they won't give me a discount unless it's 75 skins. WELL, I don't know about the buyer, but if it were me, I might intentionally whip it out whenever I go to Burger King's drive throughs. Plan on making a burgundy for myself and maybe I'll do just that when... I pump gas. On 12/15/2021 at 10:25 AM, jonlrussell said: That's really sharp looking. Instead of gluing the gator and the goat lining completely, I only glued the edges about 3 mm in. Gator isn't flat so if you glue them completely, you'll see the pattern of the scales from the inside. I personally don't like that. Also, when you only glue the edges, the whole piece is a lot softer and you'll have less resistance or stress opening or closing the wallet. 16 hours ago, chrisash said: Excellent and so nice to see matching thread rather than contrast colour thread fighting for the attention of the leather Classic luxury is low key. And I'm a tad colorblind so destined to fail with daring color matches. Quote
Members BluHen Posted February 1, 2022 Members Report Posted February 1, 2022 NICE!! Did you burnish or paint the edges?? Quote

I'll give it a try next time, and see if I like the results. Like you I haven't liked the look of seeing the pattern on the inside. YinTx Quote
Members AzShooter Posted March 19, 2022 Members Report Posted March 19, 2022 Super job in every aspect. Burnishing is one of the best I've seen. Love Alligator. You nailed it. Quote
