  1. Marlon Thanks for the pics. That was fun to look thru them. Where was the class located? Fort Worth? That's another reason I'm working to relocate to that area! Happy tooling Tim
  2. Casey That is wonderful. Thanks for the post. I LIKE it! Happy tooling Tim
  3. Equiss Thank you for your comments. I drew the pattern on paper, kept the original, then took a tracing and did the notebook. Sorry [l o l ] I am not talented enough to draw my pattern directly onto leather like I've seen some of the masters do. I can only hope to stand in their shadows and hope to learn something. If I can help out, give me a gingle Happy tooling Tim
  4. Hi Marlon, Thanks for the nice comments. I sent the same chinks from Sheridan WY show to the INDY show. Happy tooling Tim
  5. Howdy All Just thought I would post pics of a notebook I submitted to the IFoLG Indy Show. Thanks to Hidepounder for the inspirations! ! ! Happy Tooling Tim
  6. Howdy I own several Lancer swivel knife bodies. They are knock offs of Henley swivel knives and blades. I own 1 Henley knife body and blade and am REAL pleased with it. I am going to call Henley Monday and order a 3/8 body and a 1/4 angle bade. I LIKE 'EM and the price is the same as everyone else. Give Henley a try ... I don't think you'll be unhappy with the quality OR price. Happy tooling Tim
  7. Brent, Nice job! You've got some good clean lines, and your finish is great! Thanks for posting the pics Happy tooling Tim
  8. YES ...... I did mean ....BANNED. Something that I did leave out of the original message was that the company rep did advise that the only difference between the product without toluene was that the dry time was longer. The adhesiveness and flexibility should stay the same. California has banned a whole list of items and the products we use today have changed due to their bans. Thank you .....California ! ! ! !
  9. Bob I have a Canon A 630 which does everything that I want it to do. I'm with you I use it mostly for photographing items that I've completed. I wish I had bought a smaller pocket point and shoot. I would probably carry it with me more, this one is a bulky. I was looking at pocket point and shoot cameras on line the other day, and found that current cameras will do everything this a630 does and MORE. Good luck Tim
  10. Greetings All I made contact with Barge Contact Cement Co representative who gave me the following information TOLUENE [#1 component of Barge ] has been banned from California and other states are starting to follow suite. Toluene is BAD stuff ! Depending on what state your in, you may / may not be able to purchase old Yellow Barge. here goes.......... Contact Cement Yellow / Red Barge ... w/ toluene .... dry time 5-15 minutes Dark blue Barge ... toluene free... dry time 10-15 minutes Rubber Cement ... Turquoise blue ... toluene free... dry time about 5 minutes Company representative re-stated what we all know ... please use all products in a well ventilated area. If your in northern states ... if you store your cement in a cool / cold place , like the garage, allow your cement come up to room temp. It does not flow well when cold. Contact your local Barge supplier for any questions. Happy tooling Tim
  11. Hoosier Where did you buy this new Blue Barge? Why don't you google up Barge All purpose cement and contact the company and find out if this is a regional thing or what? Let me know Tim
  12. Corvus Nice work. I sure do like the color combination. Sure would like to ask 'how you did that?' Sure does make the collar 'POP'. I'm with Spence, if the customer don't like it.... they're blind!! Happy tooling Tim
  13. Patrice I was up in Sheridan WY and bought a set of Barry King's modeling spoon. I like them. I have hard water down here, and plated tools or carbon tools don't cut it. Rubbing leathers with carbon tools tend to turn projects green/black. Barry's tools are stainless. I don't know the price... give him a ring.. next week. ... 307.672 5657 Good tools are hard to beat. Happy tooling Tim
  14. Rusty Real nice job. I sure would like to see the inside. Happy tooling Tim
  15. Howdy Stevesleather 'wetting' your leather is a practice thing. Don't over wet it or will get spongy and the tools won't make a good impression. I found that I dampen my leather and try to keep it covered to prevent drying out as much as possible. When I was getting started, I over wetted the piece and it always looked 'crappy'. When the water content is 'just right', when you strike your tool, it will burnish [a dark brown] as you go. Again, it's a practice thing. Hope this helps Happy tooling Tim
  16. Hobby Tom Have you tried buying from Klingspor? I by all my sandy belts/ supplies from them. once your on their mailing list, they send a quarterly catalog. 1800.645.5555 Happy tooling Tim
  17. Aaron I think you're gonna really like them. I have everything he has and have never seen anything less that GREAT. Happy tooling Tim
  18. Howdy Bran I agree with Harvey. I see that your trying to put in pearshading on your leaves. I believe if you get lined thumbprints will make all the difference in the world, lined thumbprints will pick up the antique better. Barry King Tools are the best for the money. I have 2 tool racks of his tools. I know they are a bit pricey, but you will quickly see a difference between hand made tools and the Craftool. Good work.. Keep going your on the right track Happy tooling Tim
  19. Bruce Nice shave kit. YOU and Bob have wonderful items posted to inspire all us beginners. Thanks for the pics Tim
  20. Mark B SWEET! Nice job. You've got it all together Happy tooling Tim
  21. Ricky I have seen brass knuckles in display cases listed as paper weights and I personally know knife dealers who deal in switch blades. Both can be owned and kept as collectors items, but when you carry them out and/ or display them out on the street, they're legitimacy changes. Again , nice work on the seat. Happy tooling Tim
