VERY NICELY DONE!!! soooo... how do you get the edges to fold so nicely, and around the corners too? Is the edging a really thin leather? It doesn't look so thin though.

Well look what showed up at my house today!! Ok now I got the hang of uploading pictures.

You might try tieing the cord ends together and creating a loop. This could be hidden under the folded over piece. I dont have any ideas about the user adjustments.

I'll second what Deb59 said. Best money I ever spent on a how to make chinks DVD. Joel

I saw a set of reins the other day, that were at least 3/4" thick and about 8' long and they were very supple. They looked to be made from one piece and not laminated. They weren't colored and very little (other than a good job of edging but not burnished) was done to the leather. That I could make out. They were new and un-used and I was able to get my hands on them, so I got a real good look at them. my question.. Can anyone tell me about this type of leather? Is this a normal weight for rein leather? I've never seen any this thick. where would a person find such nice leather? Thanks Joel

Sunderland Thanks for the offer. I am looking for a pattern that is smaller at the top edge and sort of flairs wider as it leaves the waist and goes toward the hips. I can't tell if the one you have pictured does this or not. Joel

Now that you mentioned it I took a closer look at the basketweave stamping. It does have sorta more realistic look to it. Almost looks like a real stick with fiber woven through it. I like it. Did you just grind a regular basket weave down at the ends? -

I like it! Heck, your rusty carving is better than my warmed up carving! You can make me one and send it along with the new brown 30oz when you get to it. Joel -

So there are wade trees( slick fork) and there are Swell fork trees. When fitting a human to one do the same fitting rules apply to both. ie... a certain distance from the crotch area to the horn? So say that I have an 18 " swell fork. I want to buy a wade, so would I buy an 18" also? Thanks Joel

GrampaJoel replied to GrampaJoel's topic in Saddle Construction
Thanks for your response Mr. Wright and also AndyKnight . On both sites. I am truly looking for an answer here. You seem to be the only person(s) willing to commit to an answer that isn't a silly reply. -

What type of glue do you use when you mold two pieces at the same time? btw, I love your designs. -
You must be very young to have eyes good enough to paint them stars and such! Pretty original as far as I know. Nice going.

Thank you. I thought that is how you did it, but I just couldn't see it from your pictures.
