  1. Yes there is. I use a product from Beiler's called Tuff Coat to do the edge of my belts and tack, it is available in quarts or gallons. The only time it rubs off is when it is not dry. After it dries you will need acetone to get it off. If you are interested Beiler's number is seven one seven seven six eight 0174
  2. Bdt46 is right the covers are missing. Yes, there are two shuttle covers. You have to take the needle plate off and slide the one on the right into place both of the covers have a bevel on both edges. The bobbin is about four inches long it goes in side the shuttle. Remove the shuttle to see if there is a bobbin in there.
  3. This is a Landis Wax Thread Sewing machine. It is not a number 1. The needles are almost nonexsitant. There is a guy in Illinois that bought out Landis when they folded. I have his phone number some where.I found it. two one seven five four three 3464. Schmetz stopped making the 200, 230 needles 3 years ago The last of their needles were the 250 and 300. That is a nice looking piece every thing is there as far as I can see. The pricker foot controls the length of the stitch. I think there are 10 pricker feet to a set. Not sure of this I had 6 when I had my Landis. This thing will sew 1/2 inch plywood with no problem. Did you get the bobbin winder with it? The tank under the shuttle is for holding the thread wax and black that was used to sew the harness with. There is a cap for the tank missing from the back of the machine.
  4. Beiler's Manufacturing and supply has this stud & rivet on page 58 of their current catalog it is #4125 button stud & rivet you will also need #8112 Button stud anvil. phone 717 seven six eight 0174
  5. I am curious as to what type of leather you are going to sew with a machine that runs around 5000 spm? Just curious.
  6. Belt grade leather is a very good grade of leather if the supplier is honest in his assessment of the leather. Usually there would not be any brands, hanger marks or any noticeable imperfections.
  7. Where did the reply with dimentions of the sling get to I posted 3 hours ago????????? Service rifle slings are two parts. The forward piece is 48 inches long. The part attached to the back of the stock is 17 inches long with 1 1/2 inch sewn to the hardware loop in between both pieces.
  8. I see no need to use the copper rivet & burr on material that is only 1/4" or a little over. There is no machine that I know of that will set the burr and then cut and set the copper rivet. If you don't like the finish the splash tool leaves then use the cap for the tubular rivet. Other wise you will need a cutting tool and a hammer to set the burr and rivets. Good luck.
  9. Why would you use a soap to edge the belt?? Stop wiping the dye off with a white cloth. You need some of Fiebing's Resolene this will seal the edges if you don't want to use Resolene then use gum tragacanth and a slicker stick. Good luck.
  10. There is no need to splice a leash. You can make them as long as you want to. Cut and blend all of the odd size pieces from the main body of the hide. You will end up with a very large oval. Make sure you remove all of the belly. When you arrive at this point all you need to do is cut the leash. This is how 30 foot reins are made for a 4up team of draft horses pulling a wagon.
  11. There is no picture of a five in one Landis in your posting. You must have over looked the five in one picture.
  12. Wet the other piece and that should take care of the mismatch.
  13. This is one of the thread pages from Beiler's Manufacturing Supply phone # sevenoneseven 768 zeroonesevenfour. They have the needles also on a different page.
  14. It looks like a belt loop stapler but you need to take a picture of the top and bottom of the tool face to be sure.
  15. It is never advisable to let an opportunity such as that to slip away. No matter how long the day. Congratulations.
  16. This is as good as it gets for the left side.
  17. Any one know anything about this machine. I know it is a Singer 7-5 but is it a vibrating foot? The gentleman selling it claims it is a walking foot. I don't think it is. There is 9/16th" under the pressure foot. Can it be converted to 3/4" or more under the pressure foot?? If it can how much problem wold it be? From the pictures he has it looks to be in pretty good shape. Thanks for the input.
  18. You are right, this is one for the round file. Once you click on the unsubscribe they have a confirmed email address it's called fishing.
  19. I thank you for your time and knowledge. I am like everyone else trying to find a great deal without having to spend a fortune. I guess it ain't going to work. Thanks again.
  20. Hey thanks a lot Bob. I keep looking but every thing will not do what I want. Oh well such is life.
  21. Hey Wizcraft, are you in here? I saw a Singer 44-9 for sale on ebay today. What can you tell me about it? I was hoping it would do at least 1/2" leather. Thanks for your time and effort.
  22. What is the need to case a knife sheath for a flat knife? Your stitch length; are you actually holding the leather together with that close of a stitch length and that large of a thread?? Just curious.
  23. Did you change thread for the project with the shorter stitch length? If you did the thread you switched to may be the opposite twist.
  24. You should try Beiler's Manu. & Supply phone seven one seven 768 zero one seven four
