  1. I wsh I waz az smrt az u r. OK, I'll shut up.
  2. This is probably a foolish thought but why not put a speed reducer pulley on the machine. Restrict the machine to around 800spm or less if you want to. You will not loose the starting torque and you will control the range of speed. Just a thought. I made my own speed reducer 8"x 21/2" with a 3" on the motor. Works very good.
  3. You guys need to get weened away from Tandy. This is not a bargain. These sell for around 15-18 bucks at Beiler's.
  4. OTB does not require you to be a business. They do require a fifty dollar minimum order. I make my holster and belt sets out of 6 or 8 ounce with a liner. The liner does not pass through the buckle.
  5. That buckle is used for making halters and dog collars not usually used for belts. The buckle you are describing makes me think of the English stirrup leather buckle. Try this link. If you are having trouble bending the leather it is probably to thick. http://www.ohiotravelbag.com/FlipBook/P212_BOOK_1.indb/index.html
  6. There is a 6" splitter for sale on ebay. It is sold by Weavers leather they arre very nice splitters. Item number: 280877392452
  7. Buy yourself some cardamon and throw some of the seeds in you mix. The smell in your concoction should disappear. It is like 13.00 per ounce. Go to your friendly grocery store and look in the spice section it is a pale tan color the seeds around the size of a bee bee maybe a little smaller.
  8. That is up to you, if you want collect taxes for the state. No Weavers leather is not cheaper than W&C, Weaver buys a lot of their leather from W&C. Weaver is not nice to deal with anymore since Vernon Weaver sold the business 3 or 4 years ago. I used to buy stuff from them before they sold out I did not have a tax id either. Since the new buyer took over I can not buy anything from them. They will not tell me the cost of any of their stuff without an id. They don't realize that I do not need them to conduct my business.
  9. The GA5-1 is a Chinese knock off of the Singer 45. It can sew around 1/2" with no problem. It does not have a walking foot as you have found. It was designed to sew what you are wanting to sew cloth, canvas and nylon. It was used in WW2 to sew parachute rigging and other nylon stuff. It was not designed to sew leather. It is bottom feed machine with very aggressive lower feed dogs that will ruff up the leather. Another good machine for sewing the nylon would be a Singer class 7. You should be able to find one of these for 500 or less. Most of the Singers are single phase 400 to 900 watts. House hold outlet type electricity. Hope this helped.

    Mallets/mauls

How much do you want for your outdated AS maul?
  11. I don't believe you want to sew that sloooooooow 250 to 350 would be OK. Here is a manual you will need http://parts.singerc...3_W154_W155.pdf
  12. It's to early in the morning to call ya'. This is on ebay this morning. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEATHER-SEWING-MACHINE-PATCHER-SHOE-REPAIR-ADLER-30-7-/230789592628?pt=BI_Sewing_Machines&hash=item35bc21b634
  13. What color do you want? 23 $ to your door. It is the wrap around style no screw in anchors.
  14. I am talking about the GA5-1R that you sell. It is a knockoff of the Singer 45 and the Ferdco Bull 440 is also a knockoff of the Singer 45. Sewpro, Neals saddlery both sell a version of the Singer 45 I made no reference to the 2700.
  15. This machine is a knock off of the Singer 45. It is not intended to sew leather. It does not have a walking foot it is bottom feed only and it is not a myth that the machine leaves marks and scuffing on the bottom or back of the project you are working on. I had one of these things in the form of a Ferdco 440 Bull. I sold it at Weavers auction last year after 7 months of frustration and scuffing the back of the work. I think it is the worst machine I have ever had the misfortune to own.
  16. There is no such machine. You need two machines to do what you want to do. One machine will sew up to 7/8" or 3/4" and the smaller one will sew up to 3/8" to 1/2". The big machines don't like doing the thinner material.
  17. This is a knock of the Singer 45 it is not suitable for leather the feed dogs are very aggressive and scuff up the bottom of your project.

  21. That is a good price for the machine. Here is a manual you will like. As far as parts go you should lookup Toledo Sewing machine on this website at the top of the front page. Refresh the page until his logo pops up. As for selling price I have seen them sell for 50 to 300 at Weavers Auction in Ohio. http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/29-4.pdf
  22. The Pfaff 51 is a home sewing machine it was not designed to sew leather on a continuing basis.
  23. I did nothing with leather. I am working on my new shop!!!!!!!!!
  24. Wiz is right on the nail. I have seen these machines go for 50 to 300 dollars at Weavers auction . The price is way out of line.
