  1. I saw that. Thanks. Wild Harry has a new follower too. You do production runs/work right? Do you sell via your own channels only or do you do wholesale? Or a mix? Sorry for OT guys, just got interested as he/they(?) do nice stuff.
  2. Sir, You come here and show us an example of very uneven edges with splotches on the sides and tell us all we're idiots for using edge paint. As I said, I'm all for it IF IT WORKS, but nothing you showed has proven it works. Please show us your method in detail. Which products do you use? Are they 'flexible'? Do you thicken the acrylic paint before you apply it? In that case how? Drying time before sanding? Will it work by heating (fileteuse)? Etc. You may be on to great things but don't come from nowhere with a "let's use acrylic paint it's the same product" when I know for a fact Giardini is quite a bit different from my Angelus acrylics. So please, tell us more about how I can use my Angelus popsicle green to get edges like 3 layers of Giardini Semi-Dense. Also, I don't want to come off as hostile, I'm really interested in seeing this work, and how it works. Thanks.
  3. Unless your pictures depict the bag's edges before sanding, I don't think it works as well as you think it does. How do you thicken the acrylic paint? I'm all for this if it works, but seeing as people have spent some time to specialize acrylic paint to work specifically for edges I think there might be more to it than just popping open a tube of Windsor&Newton.
  4. How can this be? According to certain TV shows there are snakes eeeeveeryywheeere in Oz. Unless the crocs ate them... Everyone here in Sweden knows this to be 100% true. Here have some Fosters, as that is your favorite beer as well (everyone knows this!) Sorry OT...
  5. Going on topic again. I was in a store that sold belts that were clearly plastic and with a quality not warranting the hefty price tag. When I cautiously offered a steady supply of high quality leather belts I got the reply that all their products are vegan. "Mine too!" I replied, "with the exception for the odd fly or worm I guess, but those are most certainly accidental only!" The lady went blank and whimpered a "No...."
  6. Going OT, but of course! The way I've always figured it is that we drill kilometers down for oil but find fossils basically just laying around in the deserts. They can't really be related... But like you say, the myth is popular and the crowd knows little.
  7. Haha, reminds me of one of my favorite stories ever. A Swedish militant animal rights group once raided a mink farm somewhere in Sweden and released around 100 minks. Because it's wrong to kill etc etc. Well, most died within a couple of days as they could not get food or knew how to live in the woods... ....ummm wait it's terrible, shouldn't laugh.....but WTH...
  8. At least only humans have to die for oil...and dinosaurs...
  9. Nah, I'm just starting a Shopify store connected to FB markets and run ads via FB too and I have no problems. I would guess it's someone in the local FB office that is a militant vegan or it's 'cos of 'exotics' mentioned or something.
  10. I like the one to the right, but only if there's a light wheel on dark background and a dark on the light.
  11. Sooo...many...jokes...must...resist........
  12. Man, people are the same wherever you go in the world. I've traveled a lot, worked for extended periods in many countries all over the world. Culture differs but people do not. So we get the same joys and problems everywhere...
  13. Like I said, tools (weapons) don't kill, stupid humans do. Soon they'll ban opposable thumbs, 'cos they're enablers.... Thing is these bans may save some lives, but in the big picture they do the opposite. Only the criminals have weapons these days, and the Police. But in my area the Police can't act/don't act so what we have are large suburbs/projects that are being run by criminals and ordinary people/civilians are scared into submission. And when you have a large piece of your population living scared your democracy has not worked...so basically what I'm saying is: let people have the means to defend themselves or relinquish democracy.
  14. Ha! Soon there will be a ban on kitchen knives. You can only buy and use kitchen knives if you're a licensed kitchen worker, and then only in designated professional kitchens. All meat you buy will be pre-cut in-store. All veggies too. It's convenient and safe for us all. Aww, come on! As I always say, it's not the weapon that kills, it's the stupid human.
  15. Yup, that's what it's all about in the end...
  16. Thanks, and yes, for a leg tie. I liked the look without it, but then in this case, function trumped style, so there it is. I'll be honest, 'cos I think you can take it and I know you want to improve. I think the hole ruins it. It's a beautiful sheath, with nice carving, stitching, colors, design. And pierced by a hole. Couldn't you have sewn a loop to the back piece, all hidden like? Or protruding from the tip? As it was for a customer maybe you didn't have a choice, but for me this is an eyesore in an otherwise perfect sheath. I also guess there were no eyelets that fit? That's a problem I tend to have... And again, on the whole a VERY nice sheath.
  17. Nice. But why the hole, for a leg strap or something?
  18. Yes, leatherworking and other crafts are popular right now, with the good and bad that comes with it like atrocious quality items for sale online or hobbyists dumping prices. With more people to compete those with knowledge will be more hesitant to help out others even if that could be counterproductve (you gain skills when you teach etc). I think that might be what you're reacting to on FB (and here).
  19. Yes. But I'd like to think of it as they're getting offended by me rather than me offending them.
  20. Mostly the sensitivity. And the fact that people feel they have to be social on social media. That works on a food pic (Looks tasty!) but if asked for advice on stitching just shut up unless you really know your stuff and have sound advice to give. The arguing comes when some fool is overconfident in his/her abilities....
  21. When I joined the forum, nine years ago today actually, it was way different than it is today. I managed to pick up stuff that propelled my skills and I learned things in months that others had worked years to develop. I don't see that a newbie can get the same leap from the advice given today. No offense guys... Sure, the pinned posts and the videos everyone gets pointed to will help anyone that want to put the effort in to get better, but the 'masters' don't post here anymore. It's great with a community that supports each other and all, but if someone posts in 'Critique' and asks how to improve his rather crooked stitching he'll get five 'your stitches look better than mine' and maybe one 'are you using a chisel?' replies. Not that helpful. I'd say that if you're new to leatherworking and just found the forum you should start by reading all pinned posts and then search for posts older than say five years before posting a question. And that's some free advice you can take to the bank....
