  1. I've seen these machines mentioned in a number of threads (been doing A LOT of reading) and from what ive read, it all seems positive. I was wondering if someone might be able to give me an idea about the potential for this model and what an avg price may be for this machine. My interest is making wallet guts, belts, slings and the odd sheath. I have never used a sewing machine before, so don't be afraid to get out the crayons and dumb it down for me. I have sent the seller an email asking their price. If you wouldn't mind also sharing some appropriate questions to ask this seller i'd be greatly appreciative as well. Thank you,
  2. Thank you all for your input. I was in the store today, I had a look at the knife, it wasn't what I would call dull, but also not comparable to a razor. The edge was similar to a new swivel knife blade, having the lines where it was ground, definitely not a polished finish. I didn't pick it up as I had already picked up more than I had gone in for. I still may, but i was hoping to hear from someone that had used/owned one.
  3. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.ca/eflyer/1106RT/35010-05.aspx?countryid=998 I don't own one of these yet but was considering picking this up if it was classed as good quality. I have never used one and would rather hear some of your thoughts if possible. I'm going there tomorrow. Thank you.
  4. I wish there were some local pros in my area I could tag along with.

  5. Very nice, all of them.
  6. Very Nice, I particularly love the integration of the initials through the floral carving!
  7. ^ that speaks for itself!. Very nice! something I haven't tried yet but have that on my leatherwork bucket list.
  8. Here is the smaller one that I have. I've made a number of these, they are your standard folding knife sheath and work for me. smallfoldingknife.pdf
  9. I have a large and small pattern, not sure where the small one is but here is a scan of the large one. it's a pdf and at 100% it's the original size. largefoldingknife.pdf I'll look for the small one, but this should get you started.
  10. PS. I do not speak from experience! lmao
  11. This will give you the idea of what they are: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.ca/search/searchresults/7400-241.aspx They are available in many other shapes and sizes. Tandy Leather Factory also sells a barrette kit like these: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.ca/search/searchresults/4232-00.aspx
  12. Here is another simple pattern and tutorial on the Tandy blog http://tandyleather.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/new-project-leather-flower-w-charlie-davenport/
  13. I've had similar results on veg tan using the eco flo line of products, I cannot seem to get the level of protection from the elements I'd like on some outdoor items. I tend to stick to fiebings and have not had issues.
  14. I have one from(I believe) the early-mid 70s no date on it just spring and summer 754, I'm not looking to part with it but if you were looking for info out of it or something, maybe I could help. Edit* I should add that it is Canadian.
  15. In my short time on the forum I only recall seeing this one Click Here
  16. Not to take anything from all of the others that I have seen of yours, but I think I like this one the most. Very cool.
  17. The DVD case idea is brilliant! Thank you. It is a bit larger than the dimensions of the eReader she has(Kobo), but its meant as a protective case to transport it as it has nothing currently and if making the pattern off of a DVD case will fit a broader range of eReaders all the better!!. Thank you all for the suggestions.
  18. Thanks for the points you have made, I'll be sure to take each into careful consideration. At present my main concern is how much length and width should I add to allow for the 10mm width of the ereader +/- 1mm for the lining and then lacing/stitching, if that is possible to assume without having the unit. Thank you.
  19. I don't have the ereader, I want to make this as a gift. I know the dimensions are 184mm x 120mm x 10mm from the manufacturer website. I have never made a case specifically for an item before and much less without the actual item. I was wondering what size I should make the case sides without a welt and lining it with some garment suede. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  20. I was planning to anyway, but I just contributed what I could at this time.
  21. They look wonderful to me, I was thinking as a safety precaution, do the lanyards have a way to break free?
  22. I really like it. Very straight and even imo.
  23. Really like those. The color is great.
  24. Very nice, I like the pattern. Awesome job on the tooling and not marking up the untooled areas. I have a hard time with that.
