  1. Great, Great machine. Goood choice. I have a Cowboy 4500...about the same. I wish I had purchased a "4" class as my first machine, then I wouldnt have all these others, HHAHAHA Follow my first advice on practice and then make sure you thread it correctly. Do not change tensions until you know what that does to the entire stitch. Steve will have set it up for you for holsters. If you have a problem, it's more than likely OPERATOR ERROR. tHATS ok WE ALL DID IT. Keep posting ????. Kevin
  2. dito on Bob. If your close all your answers area right there. MERRY CHRISTMAS
  3. I just did a "google" and the m1 sling is is 1 1/4 wide which fits 1 1/4 swivals and is ~ 40 inches long at its total length. Good luck
  4. Your first question is oft discussed on this forum and some do, some don't! I do put a crease or a groove on the front side, never on the back. Your second question is easier. PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND THEN PRACTICE. Using your regular needle, no thread and no bobbin, use thin cardboard or poster board. Make a straight line and sew EXACTLY on the line. Keep practicing. Next start sewing a second line next to the first and work your way up to several paralell lines. Next DRAW random curves and do the same. Next DRAW circles and do the same. Practice like this for ..several hours.. until you think you got it. Then.. try with thread to do the same on practice, grooved leather. Good luck. PS: What machine did you get? You can get more help here for a beginner if we know the machine make and model. Kevin
  5. Sure! Start your first stitch in one stitch to the outside and stop. Raise your needle say ~ 1/2 way and reverse you material. to go forward. RESULT = lock stitch. How about that? Kevin
  6. WELL NOW THAT'S A WOW. Great job. Glad I could help!
  7. You are on the right path, grasshopper! Of my seven machines, my CB4500 is the most versatile. $2,500 gets you everything you need. I bought a dozen needles and will never use them. i'll be too old. no! no! no! regrets.
  8. OK Wiztoo. I'll bite for the sake of conversation ( or maybe conservation). If you made the cast of the static foot with the heel raised, as desired, AND then allowed a spring lift to the toe so as not to stub it with every step, and allowed extra, in certain places for side and forward slip for flex while in motion..... Then a cast would be equal to a last. Why reinvent a wheel that has taken centuries to get to the modern last, That is what we area after. The shape of a shoe or boot. NOT THE SHAPE OF THE STATIC FOOT. Sorry but I want to move in my boot. Just a thought Kevin
  9. Same as divorces, i guess. They're worth it.
  10. I still think grinding the gun down a 1/8 is an option. But then again who am I?
  11. Hey Pedro. Welcome to leather working. On a fixed income and still want to treat your leather? You could do what was used for say... a thousand years! Eat a lot of bacon and save the grease. Yeh, all kinds of animal fat can be rendered and used to treat leather (hamburger comes to mind) ( an animal after all). Just keep your stuff away from mice! Really, it works. Kevin
  12. You dont have to be a jerk about it.... Sorry, my bad. Just a different sense of humor I guess. Not intended to be a jerk, just happens that way I guess. Sorry
  13. Hey Tom I was just kidding about the "sucker" thing. I feel your pain. You just want it to sew, right? $275 seems a lot rich to me. Call Bob @ toledo industrial and get a price for the part 866-362-7397. Put it in yourself. Yeh I know what a J is. My bad sense of humor With the servo you are.....sew close.. to having a great machine. Don't back down now! O.K. the whole thing was maybe a mistake. You now have a w155, worth ZERO, accept that, and a servo motor, and now make it work! Your cost, up to now is just that, a cost. IT's gone! What choice now? START OVER? .......... NO WAY. MY MANUAL..says the 111w155 will handle size 24 needles AND..AND that means size 207 thread. It WILL do that and MORE! AFter you asked I went bigger. I am currently running #25 needle with #277 top and #138 bottom thread, on belts and the machine ..loves it... Good luck.
  14. Hey Tom! What you going to do w/155. Sell it to a sucker? Fix the darn thing. A couple springs and a "J hooK" cannot be that bad. (Whats a j hook anyway?) Call somebody for a price to fix and use the darn thing. IF.. after ten projects...you WANT another machine, because you WANT another machine, buy one.???? I bought my COWBOY 4500 after my w155 because I .. WANTED IT...! Good luck!!! Kevin
  15. Hell i'll mess with at Texas Woman! On the I-net from a 1,000 miles. You got one heck of a good machine, that's not the problem. What you doin with 3 oz and 207 thread? Lighten up a bit girl.! Drop you bobbin thread waaayyyy down and you'll do fine. Just a thought TX GIRL.
  16. WELCOME TO THE NET! Finest forum around for your needs. Art, as ALMOST always, is right. Take it back and have it checked out by the people you bought it from. You see one piece broken....how many more just moved? IF IT SEWED NICE BEFORE YOU DROPPED IT, AND NOW IT DOESN'T ...DUH?
  17. Hi Richard, Good question. Everybody normally wants thicker and heavier machines.???? I'm kinda leaning to older good stuff. Look for a singer ...say 31-15 and you'll get all the reliability of years of tried and true sewing, AND you can sew thin leather like a pro. This is THE machine of boot makers for sewing 4,5,6, oz leather in intricate designs. What more do you want for say... $350 set up? I paid $70 for the head, about $175 for the serve-pro motor and $65 for a used table. That left a lot for thread, roller foot and needles! Call Bob @ Toledo Industrial and get the info. Kevin
  18. WIZ, as always, has it right! Use no more than #207 on top. I've tried more and it's not a pretty sight. Do your bobbins in #138, or less, and you cannot find a better machine for your use. MORE OIL, MORE OIL.! Where does it go? The Marines used to give them a annual bath of Diesel fuel and then oil them more. Put a newspaper under it and if there are no spots!... OIL IT! It will outlive you and me. God bless and good Bible threading. Kevin
  19. CONGRATS ON A GREAT MACHINE! , Call/e-mail Bob at Toledo Industrial for all you singer needs. Great guy and all the knowledge you need. All needles, thread, feet and acc. for your machine. Love mine and changed the fly-wheel to an 11 inch for control. Could use the serve-pro for control too. let me know if you have USER ISSUES. Kevin
  20. OK.. so a say ...nikon 6.1 is a alright camera? Buddy has a "d50 6.1mp" with a lense for say $250. OK for showing holsters and boots?
  21. Don't be hard on yourself Warpe. It's only 1/8th. Grind the gun down! Duh! Kevin
  22. The last posts have been a pretty long time ago, for the digital world. What now, is a pretty good camera for leather work photog? Features, lenses etc. for a beginner who wants fairly high quality. Thanks Kevin
