    Post Machine

Let's see! You ran an ad. I sent a PM. I sent an E-MAIL! Do you have a machine for sale or what? Kevin
  2. I hate to say it but "wrong". Your stamp has GROOVES of rope and the "standard" stamps do not have them. I just called and ordered five stamps and am still waiting for an answer on the rope stamp with "rope" grooves. Kevin
  3. All your needs in one place. Call Bob @ Toledo industrial Machines. This is a universal endorsement for everything you need. 1-866-362-7397. don't look back, just call!
  4. Welcome to the condumdcrumcrumncrumn of leatherwork................................Just do your best and wing it! Good luck!
  5. "So this is my finalized version of of my new model. I call it the Shield. It's a quick-detachable, high-ride holster with a steel band in the mouth that adds real crispness to retention." Again the question on the steel used.
  6. Great question. I was going to ask the same question. What kind of STORE sells it?
  7. Got a question on your construction technique. What type (thick and wide) steel are you using, if you don't mind saying? Thanks Kevin
  8. A couple years ago I also actually bought a belt from a reputable maker to use as a pattern. Two layers with a "stiffener" between and a velcro strip "to hold the holster in place better" The leather, stitching etc. are great. The edges, though, were not burnished, just painted on. I wore it for only about three months and my blue jean belt loops had worn all the paint off. I re-burnished it and gave it to a friend! (need to wear my own stuff)
  9. I bought the 4500 for the longer arm because.. I didn't and still don't know what I will sew in the future and only want to do this once. Second, I think the resale value in the future will make up the current cost, if I ever want to sell while I'm alive, which I doubt. One thing I may not do, if I had to do-over is buy all the accessories. But then again, what will I sew next year???? Kevin
  10. Good Morning Kevin! IF..you follow the really good assembly instructions, IF..you thread the machine per drawings and install needle properly, and IF...you have a LITTLE patience,THEN... the learning curve will be really short. Just ask Bob any questions or post them here. Good choice. Good luck Another Kevin.
  11. WELCOME TO THE GREATEST SITE ON EARTH FOR LEATHER WORK.! I agree with Twin Oaks and I have had the same situation. You got great leather from SPL! Just sand a bit of the Billet part of you belt till it fits the way you want. If.. you have a couple of pieces of leather laying around...use some WELDWOOD glue and attach some sandpaper to them. Say one piece of ~~60 grit and one piece ~~120 grit. Use these little pieces to sand your belt to the exact size you want. Little pieces like ovals !!...~~ 3" will be really handy! Good luck and keep posting questions. Kevin
  12. ON buying one machine, hoping to move UP! Time learning each machine...say 40 hours! @ $15 = $600 Buying needles ETC. = $100 Leather used to know set up and tensions??? =$100 Product quality on "Learning Machine" =?????????????? VS Cost of CORRECT MACHINE TO START WITH! Your total INVESTMENT in a say.......CB4500 is $2,500 +-. Interest rate of 1.5% = $3.25 per Month! Interest rate of 8%= $16.67 per month! Interest rate of 18%= $37.50 per month! Hours saved per month at $??? per hour = ?????. The original cost of a good machine means nothing. You still own it, and can sell at any time, for almost the entire original price, maybe $500 less. The only "Cost" is your interest rate and the the depreciation (say $500) spread over the time you use it. Buy the best machine you can get and don't look back!!! Just a thought. Kevin
  13. Asked many times and answered often. check in the sewing machine section. Welcome to the never ending dream of a new machine! Kevin
  14. Hi Particle! I don't have a BOSS either, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I have my knobs marked with , you got it, fingernail polish at just any point on the wheel. I always keep that straight up. Count, like opening a safe, how many times you pass zero and write it down. write down any variance from there to get to your smaller thread. Reverse total adjustment when necessary. I never have changed BOBBIN tension just top side to set the stitches. If your adjustments are like mine you will be screwing in...why not use you red fingernail polish (you know..the Saturday stuff) to mark your larger outside setting, before you adjust, and just come back out the the paint? Good Luck!!! Kevin
  15. It is going to depend on your leather, as well as the products and techniques. I have got close to what that shows by two coats EVOO, dry a day. Two coats of full strength fiebing's CHERRY stain. Parts of the leather are so dark they are black looking. Sorry no talent here for pictures. If..you need more blackish cut black 1:3 with alcohol and spread a LIGHT COAT and wipe until you get what you want. Kinda a black cherry. Experiment with other until you get what you want. If that doesn't work change the type of alcohol to vodka. Drink eight ounces. The color will be perfect! Good luck
  16. Great question. Answer--All the above and twice as many. I have dimmable can lights in the ceiling for GENERAL LIGHTING of the area. Next I put florescent four tube fixtures left over from an office renovation I got for $10/each over each WORK area. Next I have three goose necks with color correct bulbs for the COLOR area, and last, two magnifying glasses with lights. Wew. I don't (or haven't yet) used them all at one time and keep the cost down with lots of switches Oh that doesn't count the lights on the sewing machines! GOOD LUCK Kevin

    Measuring Tape

I have one measuring tape and would like some more. It is 1/2" wide by 24" long and has a metal loop on the long end and is cloth not plastic. Any ideas???
  18. You can buy just one last/time from Jones and Vining Last in AR. (870)886.6621 Be careful what you wish for, though. If you want an 8D shoe you will not like the results from an 8D last. Read up more on this subject @ THEHCC.ORG. Best site around for shoe and boot info. Good luck.
  19. How to tear down and rebuild? The army and marines manual for a 31-15 and the venerable old 111W155 says to immerse in clean deisel fuel for a couple days once very year. Why take it completely apart and then figure, without a manual, how to put it back together. Give this a try first. Good luck!
  20. You showed up on my page. Welcome to leatherworker. fill out your profile, please, and state what your after here. Great site for all things leather.

  21. Buy the hackbarth beginner set. What a bargain! I use them every week. Then add in, as needed, the other good tools you need. Also try beary's maule for precision.
  22. One more vote for the "bare bones" CB4500. You will not use ALL the other stuff and will spend the same money. Go with the plain jane 4500. Kevin
