  1. SLC has been working with their telecom provider to get their inwatts working from Canada and I'm happy to inform you that as of yesterday they now have it working. This is a great benefit for Canadians so be sure to thank them when placing your next order over the phone. Kevin.
  2. It should be somewhat runny, you might have to thin it if it isn't. Don't apply it too thick, 5 minutes is about the right drying time before putting the pieces together. It also helps to give the leather a light sanding prior to gluing but shouldn't be necessary if the leather is clean.
  3. The spiral blade is for cutting a radius in tight places, I don't see a purpose for them in cutting leather and I agree that they would most likely tear the leather up worse than a conventional blade.
  4. I just bought a used scroll saw for cutting leather and filagree work in leather. The more teeth the better, I'm using 20tpi and it cuts well. What you really need is a 0 insert because there's too much space around the blade for cutting leather. I made one with molding plastic and it did the trick. I have a bandsaw as well but the scroll saw is a good addition. Kevin.
  5. Baking soda is safe. It's used in the tanning process to neutralize the tanning solution and it is known for absorbing odors.
  6. This is what I got when looking at the leather page... Wait! Please don't visit that site right now! Google detected badware on the site you were visiting. Firefox uses Google's blacklist to warn you about "Reported attack sites." We understand that you may know and trust this site, but it's possible for good sites to be infected with badware without the site owners' knowledge or permission.
  7. Have you considered purchasing a workmate? http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=workmate&index=blended&link_code=qs&sourceid=Mozilla-search&tag=mozilla-20
  8. They look good Dwight, nice back drop with the spruce.
  9. It happens to everyone sooner or later.
  10. Line it with something and you are good as new.
  11. They have two ends, you can always drill one and leave one.
  12. The going rate is about $20/sq/ft. That's about 4.5 square feet.
  13. You can still do that with a hole in the ram for makers stamps but he wants something for letters and number stamps.
  14. One aesthetic method for total leather construction would be to line the entire leather scabbard with suede and sandwich the bolt support between the suede and the leather.
  15. I'm not a salesman for Koplin but what about a leather covered Koplin? The leather could be molded around the case and it would have the support of the plastic to protect it from the foul weather it's going to see.
  16. It works, just take the time to make a decent jig. I use a 3/8 twist bit in a drill press to trim them down.
  17. Not to ruin your project but he might be better off with a molded plastic scabbard and let you make a leather harness that would fit the strut. The plastic jobs are molded for a bolt.
  18. Thanks Tom; They are true to the shafts but there's a little run out due to the sloppiness in the mixer, it's not a real precision instrument. The saving grace will be they can always be used in a drill chuck. Kevin
